Who would you say would be the closest to All Australian selection from Essendon?

My take:

- Matty Lloyd - certainty
- Jim Hird - Has played a majority of the year and would be stiff to miss out
- Scotty Lucas - has been a consistent backman for most of the year, and has drifted forward on occassions. The only players who could take his spot would be Ben Hart, Matthew Pavlich, Stephen Paxman or Mal Michael (assuming Matty Scarlett would get the Fullback spot)
- Mark Johnson - I'd have MJ in my side on a half back flank, although he has played mainly in the midfield for Essendon this year. Will romp it in for the B&F.

My side would look like this:

B: Wanganeen - Scarlett - B.Hart
HF: M.Johnson - Lucas - C.Johnson
C: Buckley - Voss - N.Stevens
HF: Goodes - Tredrea - Hird
F: Tarrant - Lloyd - B.Harvey
R: Gardiner - R.Harvey - Bell
INT: B.Johnson - Hayes - West - Ricciuto
EMER: Simpson - Power - Hasleby

You should remember Robert Walls is an All Australian Selector, so this thread could be pointless!

Lloyd/Hird should be certainties.

Lucas i think deserves a spot - but i don't think they'll give it to him.

I can only see Llyody getting in..Hird hasn't played enough footy and that will count against him...

However, if we do well leading into September, things might change.

Lloyd is stating the bloody obvious..he's in.

Hird and Lucas will be in the mix.

Our contenders like Hirdy should be certainities but the selectors of this team always come up with surprises. Don't be surprised if we only get one player in...........a rort, but we are used to the snubs.

Lloyd and Hird are certainties.

Lucas will be very interesting but may miss.

Sheeds rotation through the midfield and the way he has used JJ will count against him this year, likewise MJ is a good midfielder but he was the best back pocket.

ahhh, who cares... we'll settle for the premiership

Just Lloyd. Lucas and MJ have drifted around too much to grab a position. Hird has missed a third of the season, and generally hasn't stood out from any of the other gun midfielders when he has played.
