West Coast vice-captain Beau Waters is set to have his loyalty tested this year amid reports new club Greater Western Sydney have set their sights on recruiting him.
The GWS Giants are looking for an 'enforcer' to protect their young list when they enter the competition in 2012 and the Eagles' hardman is at the top of their list, according to News Ltd.
At only 24-years-old, Waters is just the right age for the expansion club and has yet to commit to the Eagles beyond this season.

No 'home issue' as Waters is an SA boy.

The new vice-captain and hence is the next captain of the Eagles. It would take a lot of money to sway him IMHO.

Good thing that's one thing we're not short on. :D

Yeah be happy to have him. Underrated player. My only real knock on him is his inconsistent kickin'.

Why would he leave when he almost certain to be captain of the Eagles, as soon as nest year. West Coast are more likely to succeed faster the GWS as well, I hardly see the point.

Same as anyone else who signed up for the GC or GWS: $$$. If an AFL player is lucky he might have a 10 year career and have to start from scratch, job-wise, after that if they weren't one of the lucky few to get media commitments or enter coaching. I can see why a lot of them for where the dollars are, and don't fault them for it even if it's frustrating at times.

Has a pretty sucessful perth based business now as well, He's one you would have to throw a unrealistic amount of money at to get him to re-locate

He's definatly staying

Juddy has business interests too.

If Waters has a good 2011, I'd back the Giants to make him an offer the Eagles could not match.

Not being from Perth, I don't know anything about the off-field Beau Waters, so a couple of questions:

I assume he has someone that manages the day-to-day running of this business, what with Beau being a full time footballer n'all?

Is it absolutely imperative that Mr. Waters reside in the state of Western Australia for this business to continue being successful?

Would there be any opportunities to grow said business in the state with the country's largest economy and population if Beau did in fact secure a move there?

Could a significant increase in his playing contract (not an unrealistic one) coupled with a potential boom in his business revenue actually mean he may be more likely to leave?

Cheers :thumbsu:

On a side note, found it interesting that both Murphy & Waters were given more leadership responsibilities at their clubs after the media reported interest from the GIANTS, Murph getting elevated to the leadership group and Beau getting the VC. Neither have responded to the promotions by signing a new contract as yet.

Will the offering of leadership entitlements, for want of a better word, become a common tool to ward off poachers? And will those honours become devalued because of that? Interesting times.
