Absolutely disgraceful performance from the selectors, the match committe and the players. Roo walks away with his head up high but IMO he walks away alone. The gap between Roo and the others who got votes was massive.
Best players
5. Ricciuto (great effort by the skipper - pity that nobody followed his example.)
4. Burton (a reasonable effort from the Birdman, did some good things)
3. Shirley (got in and under and worked hard)
2. Carey (the only forward who showed any smarts at all)
1. McGregor (worked very hard in defence)
Best team man
3. Ricciuto (see above)
2. Massie (showed courage and tried hard)
1. Shirley (plenty of courage in and under)
Rookie
Non-existent

Hmm - well I'm finding it hard to come up with names and the thought of watching it again is not very likely!
The Roos have a very good record here like Collingwood and the weather helped set it up for them - are we tightening up with the finals looming!! I mean it is seems amazing that we were in the game for so long.
And the fact we were trying to give underdone players some game time doesn't really help either.

The only thing to look forward to now is the trading period, draft camp and the draft because with that sort of crap we will not beat Port and will exit the finals in 1st week.
Best players
5. Mark Ricciuto (Captains effoer and he is the only one that can hold their head high.)
DAYLIGHT
4. Brett Burton (honest game from Burton. Did some OK things)
DAYLIGHT
3. Robert Shirley (1st half was great in tagging job on Harvey then the little bloke cut him up at crutial stage)
2. Wayne Carey (Not his best game but you cannot blame him for shit delivery. he was the only forward that gave something. That goal was great.)
DAYLIGHT
1. Ken McGregor (He did a very good job on Petrie and that mark running with the flight of the ball was great)
Best team man
3. Mark Ricciuto (By a country mile)
2. Kris Massie (Did some good things but couldn't run out the game.)
1. Ken McGregor (See above)
Rookie

arrrgh. beyond crap that was!!
i really dont understand gary ayres, he persisted with stevens in defence for pretty much the whole game, and then switched him to the forward line when it was pretty much all over.. and refuses to give burns game time, ack why! he came on and booted a goal pretty much straight away, that should be saying enough about why he should stay on the ground! bleh!
Best On Ground
5. Ricciuto - was a pity that not everyone else seemed to care as much as him
4. Carey - hand over goal of the year to the king now! :)
3. Burton - he did a few okay things
2. Shirley - did a pretty good tagging job
1. McGregor - seemed to be the only defender that did his job
Best Team Man
3. Ricciuto
2. McGregor
1. Carey

This game was almost as bad as the St Kilda game! :( Ricciuto you're a star!
No four quarter efforts from any player. None.
BOG
5. Shirley (worked hard in a scrappy match, never afraid to get his hands dirty)
4. Ricciuto (BOG with his efforts to half time, but I thought he faded after that)
3. Torney (fought really hard again)
2. Massie (got better with his efforts as the match went on, although his lack of pace does make him susceptible to tackles)
1. Clarke (this was going to be a charity vote whoever I gave it to, but the one criticism of Clarke is that he doesn't do enough around the ground, on a day not suited to big men I thought he did some good stuff)
Burton misses out through far too many handling errors (even if it was a wet ball)
BTM
3. Shirley
2. Torney
1. Massie

Have a go anyway. Ricciuto with 34 disposals was excellent and it would be unfair to him if we all refused to vote because most of the other performances were B grade.

Hopefully that earnt him a Brownlow vote or too.

I know he was playing in the losing side, but if Roo didn't get another 3 Brownlow votes today the game's crooked.

Hopefully that earnt him a Brownlow vote or too. I actually thought Roo was a 4 quarter player today. 20 touches in 1st half and 14 in the 2nd. He was BOG for mine but umpies usually give 3 votes to a player from a winning team.

Well that was pathetic. Two weeks in a row where the margin should have been ten goals if not for inaccurate kicking. Oh well, maybe we're this years Collingwood, playing awful footy at the end of the minor round, only to surprise everyone and storm through the finals, only to suffer a heartbreaking grand final loss. Wait, forget that last part. ;)

Burns' new nickname should be "Butter" on account of his 'effort' today. Came onto the ground, had three free players running through the centre, but instead tried to dance around his opponent and fell over, resulting in a Roos goal (actually, it may have been a point, God knows there were that many of them). His next effort involved watching a Roo player take an uncontested grab while Ronnie stood flat-footed. I hear the SANFL calling.
Special mention goes to Gary Ayres for his coaching today...he seems to be operating under the "pokie addiction" mentality: if you keep pushing the same button, you might win eventually. I wish I had a dollar for every time a Kangaroos player stood on a wing by himself and picked up an easy possession. On a related note, well done to the selection committee on the inspired omission of Bassett.
I don't think I've ever been so frustrated with the sides performance as I was today. It's hard seeing 2nd spot slide away on the back of such a soft performance. Showdown could be embarrassing if the last fortnight is anything to go by.
BOG:
5 - Ricciuto (duh)
4 - Shirley (one of few who actually wanted to get the ball from a contest)
3 - McGregor (gutsy effort in defence, eyes only for the ball)
2 - Burton (keeps going in and getting it, even if his handling wasn't too flash)
1 - Massie (obviously underdone, but he was the only one of our 'ins' to have any impact, can't question his endeavour)
Team man:
3- Ricciuto
2- McGregor
1- Carey
Guys such as Johncock, Ladhams and Stenglein might still be struggling with the after-effects of the flu, hopefully thats the case and they'll be back at their best come finals.

Yes, well I didn't want to give votes! I am agro tonight. Perhaps I am a little harsh, but we blew a HUGE oportunity today and the players have to take responsability for that. They played terribly and I don' t think any of them would disagree with me. I hope Gary gives them a big kick up the bum this week - they deserve it.

I reckon we removed our brains when we changed into our footy gear today and forgot to put them back in. We made so many dumb choices today. However, I don't think Gary would have told them to kick wide, I reckon he was as frustrated as we where sitting in the outer.

3. Mark Riccuito.
The rest didn't do/work/try/care enough to warrant votes in my opinion. Disgusting third rate performance from a supposed premiership contender. If that's how we play under pressure with a huge opportunity for the taking, I dread to think how we're going to perform in the finals.
Incredibly frustrating.

Well, we have probably screwed up the entire season and our finals hopes with one of the most pathetic, ****-weak performances of all time.
I can't believe people have given Massie votes! He was TERRIBLE. Every single time he had the ball he turned it over!! Why the hell was he in the team anyway? Apparently he had a shocker for Norwood last week.
Bode was ****e as well. If Ladhams is fit to play next week, then Bode should be dropped. He hasn't played a good game since coming back from his knee (or ankle?) injury against Geelong, and looks like he worries more about his hair than he does the game.
What the hell was wrong with Stenglein? If he wasn't fit, why was he picked? If he was fit, why wasn't he on Simpson?
It was a very dangerous move making so many changes, especially so close to the finals. I cannot see how Stevens can miss so many weeks of football, play a few games in the SANFL and be expected to return? He looked really slow yesterday too.
Welsh needs to cut the crap. He was on his angry pills yesterday! For the first half, I think it was, he looked like he was going for his opponent rather than the ball.
Burns is walking a fine line too. We all know crumbers can be inconsistent, but after the spray he apparently gave the bench/coaching staff after he was dragged, it might be bye-bye to Ronnie this week.
And to the people bagging Begley. At least he put some bloody effort in and attempted to get the hard ball, unlike Massie and Bode. He had the most tackles of any Crow (and marks for that matter) - not a bad stat considering he was only on for about half the game.
The decision to drop Bassett must go down as one of the most pathetic decisions ever. There have been some players playing a lot worse than him over the last month or so, yet he is the one that gets the axe? With Edwards and Hart out, it proved to be so costly. You'd think the last thing we could be tinkering with would be the backline. Our kick in's were really screwed. Ricciuto did them for a while, then Massie, then some others. We could not get a take away from a kick in  You can use the weather as an excuse - ie it was difficult to mark - but how come North could hold marks?
So this week:
IN: Bassett, Edwards, Hart
OUT: Bode, Massie, Burns.
We have way too many passengers.
Votes for this week:
POTY:
5 - Ricciuto. Sensational game from Roo as usual. One of the only players who appeared to have a go for the 4 quarters.

I cant see us winning another game this year on that effort. Ayresy needs to not only get 'em up this week but he also needs to come to grips with the teams dismal start to the last showdown or he'll be outcoached not only for the game (again)but for the season!!

IMO, when Burns was on the ground, he did do alright... The wet weather was a crumbers' delight, and why he wasn't on more in the forward line I don't know? :P As for the turnover at half back, that was a poor umpiring descision, as he was inadvertently tripped by the falling Kanga's player. Why that was called holding the ball, I'll never know!
As for bog, as all have said, definately Roo...
I trust you have all heard the news by now but a murder of crows have requested the club remove them as the mascot as they don't want to be associated with such utter crap. Imo, he played for the free, he could've stayed on his feet as the contact to his legs wasn't hard enough to knock him over. Once he was tackled he should have tried to at least get rid of the ball.
Correct decision was made.
But in general i agree, Ronnie should be a permanent FP.
On another note, I am stuffed how people can give Smart any votes. He was thrashed.
This performance has been coming for at least a month

Stevens started on Rocca & was soundly beaten. Thought Smart did OK when moved on to him, then shifted around a bit, as he was one of they few trying to give us run out of defence.

I thought he got flogged by the big fella. (Sav had 2.4?) Played from behind when he should have been in front.
Stevens was a v. strange one for me. Heard Ayres in the press conference and he said he had always planned to use Stevens in the back lines, but he has played forward for the eagles since his comeback! Why not ask Ronny Fuller to play him at CHB then?

3.... James Begley - still thinks he's playing for Saint Kilda under Timmy Watson where players were asked to kick to the opposition so they could get good draft picks and consessions!
2.... Ronnie Burns - no wonder he was so grumpy when he got dragged, he had almost worked the splinter out of his arse , I say bring back Daniel Schell-- for team ballance, imagine what he could have done in the wet instead of one of these small crumbing forwards who are of no use in damp conditions!
