The HS got it right today, Benny Haynes is the new Mark Mercuri. I believe he had at least 4 "assists" yesterday. His delivery to our forwards is poetry in motion. He is in our best 22 and should not be dropped.
Thanks Richmond.

Agreed.
His Disposal of the ball is brilliant and is an un selfish player a Great pick up for us. Our future really is looking bright with great young players. Mark Mecuri is just getting worse. This will probably be his last season in AFL unless he improves big time next season.
Unlike Mercuri ... Haynes is strong on both sides of his body.

Yep, keep him in there. Quietly racking up possies in the midfield. I have a feeling he might slip under Collingwood's guard this week and play a blinder.
I reckon when Freddie finally calls it day, Sheedy should give Haynes the #2 jumper.
That sounds like a bloody good idea Stealthy

Haynes has been great - a lot better skills than i thought he had and you can just see how hungry he is to do well. Don't think he'll ever be near what Mercs once was though.
I've been impressed with Mercs recently...he's getting into some form. Could be our ace if he keeps it up.

I'm confused...???
What form has Mercs shown Darealrath? Is this the form that saw him gather the ball in midfield, run to chf then turn around looking back to midfield while our forwards ran around in circles trying to work out what he was doing?
The Merc of old would have slammed it down Lloyds gob without a blink of an eye. He reminded me of -- dare I say it? -- you know.. the little guy from '93 who ran around trying to look like he was doing something but had no idea. He used to run like the wind without getting anywhere then stop dead at chf while trying to pass backwards!! We were smart and dumped him off to Colliwobbles!

He was merely waiting for jacobs icey - still has eyes in the back of his head does mercs ;)
He's been better, and value off the bench at the least, a few of disposals on the weekend were excellent.

I was wrong. Mercs is g.o.n.e.
Haynes has been a revelation.

Haynes down the members wing in the 3rd quarter. Receives on defensive half, runs close to 50, bounces with both hands, sets up solly in the goal square. While you're at it Richmond, can we have Coughlan too?

Can't have Coughlan but welcome to sift thru some of the other talent (sorry, I mean hacks) on our list that should be looking for new homes next season.
i.e. Mills, Pettifer, Hyde, Vardy, Dragacevic, Biddiscombe, Houlihan, Fleming, Nicholls, Rogers, D.Kellaway, King, Hilton, Sigthorpe:(
