Mr Ripper
10 Mar 2001, 08:04
Date: 20.8.83
Venue: Junction Oval
Opponent: Collingwood
Time: 18 mins; final quarter

Sandy: "Played some 18 minutes, almost...of this final term. Rendell; down the throat of Wilson; like lightning, gives it to Gotch. Now, where's Quinlan? Out on the lead! Here's a chance, you've got this one! It will be a prodigious kick if he does it."

Bobby: "Everybody's saying 'have a shot, no matter where you are!'"

Sandy: "It'll be the torpedo, will it? No, I think he might use the drop-punt...it's high, it's long, it's there!"

Bobby: "It's 100!"

Sandy: "100 goals to Bernie Quinlan and here they come in their thousands! Well, you can put time-on now for probably 10 minutes; they're out there in their thousands! And now where are the police because he's going to be absolutely mobbed...great performance…and yet, as I look around there are probably three policemen."

Bobby: "And Bernie Quinlan, the first Fitzroy player in League history to kick 100 goals in a season!"

Larry Donohue kicked 105 goals for Geelong in 1976, but couldn't crack it for a senior game, when he crossed to Fitzroy in about 1981.
