Just wondering what others thought of it?

Me, well I grew up with one of those Fathers that goes nuts for car crashes and chases in movies, therefore seen the original and ever sine I've wanted a mini :p

Good storyline, not a remake, but a, "use the old name make a new movie" kinda movie...

Mark Walhbergs, biceps earnt it a few extra points, and Seth Greens sillyness...

See it! :D

Why would I want to see a modern version of this movie when I have seen the original?

I am appalled they have remade this and changed the story line.

Why? B/c The Italian Job is one of my fav all time movies. Was the first time I was introduced to Michael Caine and thought Charlie Croker was hell funny. But the new version is all Hollywood. It sucks big balls no matter how good people say it is.

Like the original, the movie was really a big ad for Mini Coopers.

"We are the self preservation society"

and I use this quote as a sig in another forum
Charlie Croker: "Now it's a very difficult job and the only way to get through it is we all work together as a team and that means you do everything I say"

The original is an all time classic. It had one of the best endings to a movie ever. I can't stomach the thought of a remake casting Marky Mark as the lead. And to replicate the car chase with the minis is just plain disrespectful. I am very disappointed that Ed Norton is involved in this movie.

i been told that the orginal and this current one are two different movies, but with the same name of the movie. The use the name of the the italian job is to cash in on the first/original Italian job as it was a hit.

There is meant to a few of movies coming out using names of movies already made in the past, but they are not re-make

Saw it last night - very ordinary. The new story wasn't all that bad a concept, but the execution was poor. Piles of plot contrivances, two utterly boring leads in Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron, lame Mission Impossible-style setups, and not nearly enough Mini hoonage. Even the 'big chase' was pretty dull. Ed Norton's talent was a total waste (no wonder he only did the movie with a contractual gun to his head), and Seth Green and Jason Statham were basically the only ones worth watching. And Napster jokes??? Hello, and welcome to 1999. Nice to see you.
