I've just found this board. It's good to see so many postings. And the AFL thought we would go quietly away?

I was born in England and brought up in England (and have always lived in England so why do I support The Roys? I was introduced to the Roys by a chance meeting with a Fitzroy supporter at the Redback pub,in Melbourne, in 1992. Despite the defeat that day, to the Demons, I have always followed the Roys and I always will.

The "merger" and subsequent "final" game in 1996 was one of the blackest days in my life. In the last years of Fitzroy's life as a member of the AFL I suppported the Club as a 'Dollar a Day' member.
Unfortunately, this was not to be enough as the People's Club was "murdered" by the AFL.

But whatever the AFL did, and can do, they will never kill off our team. Fitzroy lives in the hearts and minds of all true Roys' supporters and always will. The alliance with Coburg was just the beginning. If every Fitzroy supporter stands up to be counted Fitzroy will rise again as a force in the VFL. It will not be easy but we can do it. Keep the faith.

Fitzroy for ever!

I acknowledge your claim to No 1 in England. Now does someone else want to come in and push me down to 3? One or two more and we'll have our own supporters' branch.

I played in the BARFL (British Australian Rules Football League) for East Midland Eagles and even managed to turn out once for Great Britain. I usually turn up at the Oval for the annual AFL end of season match. I was there last October (in my Fitzroy jumper of course) at the Melbourne v Adelaide match.

Whenever, I am telling anyone about Aussie Rules I always tell them about Fitzroy. So much so that to many people in my part of England believe that Fitzroy is to Aussie Rules what Manchester United is to soccer; and, of course, they are right!

UKRoy, the President and the General Manager are also ex Fitzroy as is the one and only Zanotts who started the London Gryphons.
