View Full Version : Changes for the Derby??

Who do you think should come into the side for the Derby?
While alot of people say that Croad is the new scapegoat for bad performances, he has been completely crap for the past 2 weeks.
So this week I would have:
IN: Grover
OUT: Croad
I wish I could get paid $400k a year to play WAFL.
Will be interesting, Claremont has the WAFL bye so Croad can't even play for them if he's dropped by Freo, then he won't have qualified for the WAFL finals, so he can't appear for them there either...
Will look forward to see what Connolly does with him...surely he won't play him again?
Grover will come in, possibly Koops or Andrew Browne as well.
Croad out with maybe Schammer?
Croad can play in the WAFL finals if Fremantle are playing in the same week and choose not to play him, regardless of how many matches he's played throughout the season.
And I agree with you FD.

There is no way Schammer will be dropped, CC has a lot of faith in him and he doesnt seem to get too fazed by the big game atmosphere.
If someone was dropped, namely Croad/J. Longmuir, I would think Koopsy would be the likely inclusion as he seems to be a better forward option than Grover.

Agree with FreoDocker, drop Croad for Grover.
There's no way CC will drop Schammer. He may have made a critical mistake last week, but lets face it, WC have a fairly strong midfield and we'll most likely need to break even with them in this area to win the game.
So the midfield contest is at follows; Bell, Pavlich, Hasleby, Headland, Carr, McManus, Cook, Walker & Schammer v Cousins, Judd, Kerr, Embley, Fletcher, Jones, Braun, Chick & Chambers.
Take Schammer out of the rotation and we suddenly look a lot more vulnerable.
The only question is, with Croad most likely to be out, and Subi being such a large ground requiring a forward prepared to lead far up the ground, who will play at CHF?
We can't afford to take Pav out of the middle given the fairly strong lineup of the opposition.
No doubt Simmonds will push forward, but the Ogre can't ruck for the whole game.
With McIntosh likely to take J.Longmuir, perhaps we could play Polak forward? If we are serious about playing him there over the next season or so, next week would be the ideal situation to do it for the whole game. If Glass is fit, he will most likely take Polak, but if he doesn't pass his fitness test, someone of the ilk of Hunter or Collica will probably take him. Either way, Polly would be a far superior mark to his opponent and neither of them would be able to outmuscle or physically intimidate him.
Your thoughts?

Why dont you ask Mcinstash?
They only put him in the side because its his last few games.

I think this is a good move Schammer will get lots more chances, we need our toughest and most experienced team out there from now on. I predict that with Grover comming in McPharlin will have a run up forward this week. Eagles will have trouble matching up our talls
Sandilands needs to play a good game. If we can't win those ruck knocks, then we might be in a bit of trouble
Sandilands is doing his fair share, the ruck is not the weakest link. We must improve our clearances from the ball ups.
The forwards are due for a ripper, maybe Parker will cruise down and show them how to kick goals, but don't blink as you may miss the goal celebration.

Yeah right - Poor shane has crapped himself the few times he's found himself close to his own goal posts with the ball in his hands. :D
