I have been impressed with last 6 or so weeks no need to call on Libba yet. What do you guys think do you think Libba will be Hawthorn's senior coach in the future.

Still a long way to go for Libba, he's only coached one year of VFL.

Donald McDonald is a premiership coach at Box Hill and is now an assistant at Hawthorn. It is more likely that he would become a senior AFL coach before Libba.

By the way the season has finished off and from comments made by senior Hawthorn officials, my guess is that Schwab will be given a 2-3 year contract at the end of this year.

I have forgotten about Donald Mc Donald having Box Hill coaching success

Dont think Libba could become a senior coach let alone at Hawthorn.
Size of a pea with a mouth bigger than Luna Park.
As for Schwab, i would not at all be suprised to see him get a another contract at the club.
A 2 or 3 yr deal wont happen though, he will be given a 1 year contract and thats at best, he will be lucky to keep his job so i thibk he would be rapt with a 1 year deal.

no chance in hell will libba be a senior coach at AFL level. He could win 5 VFL premierships in a row and he still wouldn't cut it.

All I'm thinking about is the job Peter Schwab will do in 2004. Our immediate future at this stage is far more important than our long term one. We need to have success, and it needs to be soon.

Libba has done a good job at Box Hill and is well regarded by the players and club officials. His physical size has absolutely nothing to do with it. He probably will coach AFL one day but it is still a long way off.

It is possible that Schwab will be offerred a one year deal although it would be extremely short-sighted by the club. A one year deal would only encourage more stop-gap solutions such as trading for rejects to plug holes.

The sensible thing would be to bite the bullet and give him 2-3 years. This is the most likely scenario.

Hawthorn Supporters you right about Libba having a bigger mouth than Luna Park.

Despite doing well at box hill if he does go any higher than serior coach at Hawthorn he may be a good assistant to the Western Bulldogs coach Peter Rhoads.

This is were we will have agree to disagree.
I think it would be silly to sign at this stage a mediocre coach who has been under pressure this season and most of last season for 2 or 3 years.
Schwab has achieved little as a coach RESULTS wise so i find it very difficult seeing Hawthorn sign him for 2 or 3 years, more so silly than anything.
I would be suprised if Hawthorn gave Schwab anymore than a 1 year contract and i belive that is the most liley scenario.

cheers

Sunday on MMM in answer to a question from Sam Newman, Ian Dicker said that a one year contract would not be sensible. As it turned out they gave Schwab a two year contract.

Looks like you were wrong on both counts.

If you had of listen properly you would notice that yes he has a 2 year contract, but there is a performance based clause running into the 2nd year. This means tha if he under performs next year he can still be sacked. It was originaly said from Dicker that it was gonna be a 1 year contract but a 2 year perfomanced based deal was alittle more solid for Schwab. So in other words if he stuffs up next year then he can go without breaking any rules as it would be stated the clauses in his new contract.

Yes i am wrong in a way but not fully :D
