On the WCE Board, someone once proposed that West Coast should change their song to something based on Rose Tattoo's "We Can't Be Beaten".

Bit bogan? Sure. But it really is a good tune for a footy song...

If thats an American tune then it suits Giants.
Like the simplicity of its tune and lyrics, perfect for footballers.
Maybe tweak the final line to And the crowd will roar when the Giants are marching home . Less of a mouthful.

It ticks all the boxes: a tune that's been around for yonks & will be instantly recognisable as a brand when used in the advertising, something that will still sound impressive when bawled out joyously yet tunelessly by 20,000+ drunken, atonal fans, and most importantly, the KISS principle applied in such a sweet manner so that it avoids being overly complicated (Norths)/ silly (Port)/ or just plain naff (GCFC).

(It ain't exactly "We Are Geelong", but then we ain't, are we? :cool:)

Yeah, this is kinda very awesome. The key really is to use a memorable tune that everyone knows, with simple lyrics that everyone'll pick up after hearing it one or two times. They'll probably produce some kind of bland, boring, non-event like the Suns' one or the current Eagles' one, but it would be really great if they did this. It'd be hard to resist singing along to, that's for sure.

Still my fave. Easy to sing and remember. Give the players a break- they need this type of rousing tune. It even sounds like Giants tramping along! :thumbsu:
Maybe keep the first line as : The Giants march to victory - hurrah hurrah (drop the redundant on). l
Maybe last line, swap 'as' for 'when' so it reads "And the crowd will roar, when the Giants come marching home.

Simple old tune but catchy. Better than our rather average one. Now watch them powers that be go and pick some other lame tune that nobody likes.

It's a great idea for a song, anthemic and stirring. It's actually an old Irish anti-war song, about an unrecognisable veteran coming home: 'Johnny I hardly knew ya.'

The song in the OP sounds good for footy too.

So when is the offical song released? GC's was released at around this time last year for their second launch (They had one late in 09 and they were just the Gold Coast Football Club which shocked many because they didnt have a nickname. Then they had a 2nd one mid 2010 were they released the Suns nickname, jerseys, songs and all that)
