ok - first result is in - Collingwood defeated Essendon by 16 points, this secures 2nd spot for Collingwood. :(
We really did blow it last week.

Well, Collingwood have guts and determination, they know how to win crucial football matches that can secure high spots on the ladder. Well done to them.

We'll get either a home elimination final or a qualifying final against Port.
Would you rather be travelling to Brisbane or Perth next week?

This, of course, relying on Brisbane winning. A Crows win, and Brisbane loss to the bulldogs (stranger things have happened) would see Adelaide travel to Melbourne in the first week to play C'wood...
And of course a loss would give us a home Elim. final... not that that's anything to play for... because if we earn a Q Final showing, even if we lose that, we get a second shot, and more importantly, a home semi-final...
If that happened, what's the AFL's stance this year on the MCC contract in relation to week 2 of the finals? If the same thing happened as last year, it's just wrong!

The Bulldogs were insipid last week.

Which is why going to Brisbane for a Q final is better than getting a home elimination. The worst case of going to Brisbane is better than the best case of going through the elim.
Collingwood winning means we have 2 tries to knock you down. If we can't do it once out of two we really don't deserve to be a shot at the GF.

We MUST win tomorrow because.....
YES......we will probably get a home final in the first week anyway
BUT....if we lose tomorrow and then win next week, we will have to play an AWAY Semi Final either in Melbourne against Collingwood, in Brisbane, in Sydney or if Port manage to lose next week in Adelaide (most unlikely)
IF WIN TOMORROW.....we will prob play Port next week again and even if we lose get a HOME SEMI FINAL (subject to MCC Shafting) or if we win straight to the prelims (Prob @ Home if Pies get the other Prelim)
I know which way sounds better to me.

Never said otherwise.
But if its a choice of Brisbane at the Gabba and Port at Football Park (both qualifying finals). Then I'd prefer the latter.
Collingwood winning means we have 2 tries to knock you down. If we can't do it once out of two we really don't deserve to be a shot at the GF. We'll win this week against a complacent Port Adelaide. Then with the mental ascendancy we've gained by winning, we'll knock you off again next week. ;)
