Well, that went well.
First off, let me reiterate that I wasn't really taking this very seriously when I thought up the idea for a thread. Just for a laugh, pick a side made up of board members who'd want to play against the Adelaide/Port board's line-up. At first I was just going to see what the combinations could be, but then the fantasy footy thing was mentioned and it went alright I thought.
For a little while I was thinking I should just wait until I see a fair few AFC/PAFC supporters on and make a thread on the AFL board telling you to go at it hammer and tongs (no doubt annoying a hell of a lot of neutral supporters in the process) and then sitting back and watching the action. We could still do that but I s'pose it'd only be a matter of time before it was closed or moved. Hands up who reckons we should maybe still do it anyway?
This thread is for the coaches to give their press conferences as well heheh, go through each of the players performances and rate them if you want to too.
Of course the real showdown is on Sunday, good luck to the Power and hopefully those of you who can go do go. Depending on how the finals pan out, we may even meet again before the end of the 2003 season. There's no reason why we shouldn't try and do this every showdown.
Therefore, in this thread please give your general thoughts, ask any questions you have, and comment on how things were set up and handled. Remember, the Fantasy Footy stuff is probably best directed at Deestroy or someone like that so hopefully he'll see this thread and help out as well.
As with any future matches there can be line-up changes and ins and outs and new recruits, perhaps there will even be changes off the field as well. All week here I was thinking I was in the halfback line but on match day I was a target up forward!
So tell us what you thought.

I was happy with my contribution and thought the whole thing added a bit of spice and interest to the real game... and could well become a real/sim tradition as long as someone could be bothered computing it - thanks to Deestroy for doing it :)

As i said before Leigh, great idea & must become a twice yearly event (as per the minor showdowns)
Well i thought i was just about our best player!! never stopped running & provided the spark in the 2nd quarter when we needed a lift,
The low life who ever it was that done the dirty deed to reveal my pearly white Y fronts should be rubbed out for the next 2 games,
Was very disappointed in some of our players especially young Stiffy but also macca23 (who should know better) in letting their concentration & hands waver on matters that did not include the ball,

it was a great contest! Jerome did well :) only a point in the end, goes to show you adelaide vs port adelaide showdowns are alway close, must be something in the water :)

Noddy it wasn't my fault!! After all I still did kick 2 goals with concussion that I got from _espoir patting my bum!! ;)

You could always enter your boards team into the next season of Fantasy Footy on the Fantasy Footy board. The Melbourne, Kangaroos and Richmond boards already have teams in the competition.

As far as Stiffy goes I think he's going to be cited when the after match review of the video is done.
You just can't drop your shorts and your jocks on the oval to show _espoir your tackle.
He might be a bit stiff, but I think when they see the magnitude of his crime he's gonna be in trouble!! :D

Why is everybody attacking my contribution??????:confused: I kept my opponent pretty quiet, got 16 possesions, 4 marks myself and kicked a beauty from outside 50.

Damn how could we lose this game when we had control of it. Well played Macca19 & Port, but reckon I was robbed by the umpires ... again.
We must lift as a team for the next game & do all the 1 percenters. Personally, I'm disappointed in my own performance & looking to rectify it next time (my hammy was playing up & preventing me from influencing the game as I would have liked).

The sides swap around from quarter to quarter. Thats why we had our FF DaveW at FB in 1st and 3rd quarters and orgy machine Dyertribe playing CHF for 2 quarters and CHB for 2 quarters.

It was a strange game alright... I'm still shattered I didn't get groped, dacked or pinched... it's because I'm white isn't it :(
However - I was used as a stepladder (by a female) and wandered forward to kick a huge goal...

Nah, the sides generally stay the same, but changes can be made when players are struggling in their position, or even if they are not they can still be moved (just like in a real AFL game). It was strange for both your FB and CHB to be swapped with FF and CHF though, haven't seen it happen before.

Eg. macca23 kicks a goal and is doing well and all of a sudden he is a back pocket. Very weird:confused:
