BLOODY EAGLES
I had them in the tipping and if they won I would have won the tipping but now I can still go to 3rd. Thats 600 bucks less cash.
Well with the Weagles looking like they are going to lose now we are going to play either Port Adelaide if we win or Eagles at AAMI, which isnt so bad as wew get a home game. If essendon had of won then id be worried about playing them again. Things dont look so bad as we should beat them.
ANyway CARN THE CROWS TOMORROW.
Jason
I tipped Freo :D (not over yet - 20 point lead with a quarter to go)
(I also tipped the Saints :()

Go Freo! :)
I've got none wrong so far. yay.
Im thinking playing West Coast at home might be easier considering they got an absolute spanking here at the start of the year.. But then again, finals are pretty different!

I don't give a rats arse if Freo win as long as we beat Port tommorrow. It will take a miracle.:(

I've given up hope of winning tommorow.
No Hart
No Basset
No Crows
But I am willing to take those words back if we pull off a very unlikely win :(

lol - that five minute warning is bit stupid. As for the stupid blast sound, sounds like some had an accident in the commentary box.

If we lose we are ALMOST guaranteed to play West Coast at home next week.
We can take about a 10 to 11 goal defeat and still just squeak into 6th. Assuming the scores were
Port 19-12
Crows 9-6
our percentage would be 117.3572%
Eagles percentage is 117.3562%
so we would squeak in for the home game by a margin equal to the thickness of the pubic hair of a gnat.
Either way if we lose, Port get to play Sydney at home which would be a gimme for them IMO.
Of course if we win then it's another Showdown next week.

Mark Aiston with breaking news:
The gnat has had a Brazilian, George.
What say you macca23? ;)

30 Aug 2003, 23:43
... and to add to that, if we scored less than 9-6, the winning margin wouldn't need to be as big to slot us into 7th :(
I still doubt it will happen though, and still rate us as a chance to nab victory tomorrow :)

The rumour is that Chad Cornes won't play Stiffy. I hope to god that's right.
If Cornes doesn't play then that leaves either Thurstans or Lade as their other tall to play up forward. We can cover that with Smart, McGregor and maybe a bit from Biglands.
I'm starting to think we are half a chance.

I'm starting to think we are half a chance. I said on thursday or friday that I doubt VERY much that Chad will play. Even if thats the case I still think we are in a bit of a stife. I just hope it gets to be an extremely wet day so Port's talls aren't as effective as they would normally be!!!!!!:(

Are people forgetting our forward line? Remember, even without Stevens up there, we have a stellar line-up that is hard to stop when firing. If Burns, Perrie, Johnco.ck, Carey, and Welsh all stand up tomorrow, we are ominous...

Some of those blokes pull goals out of their arse:(

Burns is due for a big one.
Welsh is due to improve.
Johncock is due for a big one.
Carey - he is the king. nothing more to say.

I might be wrong young Stiffmeister, but I really think that our best chance of winning is if it's not wet weather football and we can get our running game going.
If our mid-field pulls it's weight I like the look of our forward line.
We're a chance.

It wont take a miracle.
Its not like Adelaide is 16th and we are 1st and havent lost a game for the year. Youve been pretty much in the top 4 or 5 the whole year. Your missing Bassett and Stevens. Big Deal. If you dont win it will still be a close game. Its not like Port will win by 9 goals or anything. Not to mention the fact that Adelaide will do everything possible to win this game.
Sure, we are favourites, but its not gonna be this ground breaking miracle if you get up that all crows fans think it will be.

We're a chance. I hope you are right macca23. I just think given half decent weather tommorrow Tredrea will tear us a new one. I have been following this bloke pretty closely all year and he is unstoppable. There is only one player in the whole of AFL that I think is capable of breaking even with Tredrea and thats Leppitch.
He is too big and strong for McGregor and much smarter too. He is too quick for Biglands and lets face it Biglands is not the quickest thinking footballer around is he??????? Plus if we play Biglands on Tredrea as has been rumoured, we are running Clarke into ground.
If Biglands gets Tredrea and Smart gets another tall, where does that leave McGregor. A back up ruckman or a 3rd tall in attack where he will be ineffective as he usually is.
Too many questions and not enough answers IMO.:(
BUT I would be bloody stoked if the boys could prove me wrong.:)
Cut off Port's midfield, cut off Tredrea.
Simple. :D

Simple. :D Easier said than done. And even if we do cut off Port's midfield, what Tredrea then does is lead further up the ground to provide a target and with his hands he holds most of the marks. he then kicks it into the forward line where the likes of Burgoyne brothers, Dew and Pickett go riot!!!!!!

That's the real key. I think if we win the mid-field we are a really big chance.
If they do then we have no chance.

If they do then we have no chance. And if they break even then they win as they are far more efficient with their forward 50 entries than we are.
Maybe Carey can play a blinder and kick a lazy 7. ;)

I'd love to see Carey pull another "Smash Melbourne FC" routine like he did that night in 1996. Kicked 11.2, and the .2 was from hitting the post both times IIRC! But I only sacrificed a KFC chicken to the Football Gods (Oh yea, thou art powerful and glorious!) this afternoon.......couldn't find a damned live chook.

What will the mental attitude be today?
1. We played **** last week and lost second spot so now we have to redeem ourselves
2. We need to beat Port to get the monkey off our backs and give us confidence for next week
3. We need to put in a big team effort but if we lose, well we only play West Coast next week at home and we would be pencilled in to win that one
5. Lets just ride out this match; in front of a capacity Pork crowd cause the real stuff starts next week
Its gotta be 2.
GO ADELAIDE!!!

While I cant bring myself to wish you mob luck - lets all hope the game is as good a spectacle as the Western derby was last night, and that both sides escape injury and tribunal free.
