View Full Version : Does Brogan play for us?

Well you'd think he does the amount of times we've kicked to him at centre half forward. Our delivery has been inept.

Mind you, it helps when Wakelin begins shepherding Carey before the ball is even kicked forward.

And what a disgraceful goal that was before quarter time. Peter Burgoyne crunches Ladhams in the back, yet Wanganeen gets a free kick because Bickley got a finger nail caught in his jumper.

I think the Shaun Burgoyne-Shirley matchup is a mismatch. Burgoyne showed in that marking contest that he was far too strong for him. Get Shirley into the middle where he does his best work.

The pleasing signs have been Bode's return to form. And Massie was very good early on. (And who was saying he wasn't hard enough? Not me that's for sure.)

Nine point lead at half time. I'll take that. :D

Much better going forward in that quarter, albeit not with very many marks. It was actually Port whose efficiency tapered; particularly their kicking at goal. Edwards has been particularly lively. Carey did some good things as well.

I've liked Bode's game so far. He's really given us some run. Goodwin hasn't been too bad either.

I think the effect of the wind might be a bit overrated by the commentators. Dew kicked from 50 into it and got the distance easily - albeit a behind but it was to the opposite side. Which might suggest the wind is going more across ground than down the ground.

Down by 10 at three quarter time. :(

They were just too slick for us in that quarter. I'm relieved that Stevens and Wanganeen missed easy shots towards the end of that quarter.

We're still in this!

And why oh why don't we get the soft in the backs and high tackles?

And who was on Montgomery? I could've sworn at times he was playing as a loose man in attack. I think it was Torney, he was very quiet today.

Pickett probably should've been more closely checked as well. He was dynamite. :(

Another very winnable match thrown away... and I'm pissed off.

We were in a position to win come the last quarter, but we didn't want it bad enough. I just can't see us winning the flag from 6th spot. Unfortunately, we will be just making up the numbers now.

BTW, on Brogan, some of our delivery into the forward line was atrocious. We had 3 marking targets, so you kick it to the man who doesn't have Brogan double-teaming him. Simple really. Some of our players need a brain transplant!

Lots of ruckmen over the ages have made a living by dropping back and helping their defence, Peter Carey, Russell Johnson, Rick Davies, Brett Chalmers, Shaun Rehn, Paul Salmon, Simon Madden, Matthew Primus and lots of others.

Some of your forward disposals were under pressure, not all of them though

Looked like the Crows got their share of the frees to me

MMMMMMM, I must have been watching a different game?
The incident that I saw, was Ladhams had a hold of Wanganeen's jumper prior to the marking contest, still had hold of it when Peter Burgoyne flew for the mark, interferring into the back of Bickley. The FIRST infringement was the jumper holding, that was therefore the free that had to be paid.

Nothing like a bit of embellishment to cloud an event hey Dave?

I'm sure I've said somewhere previously that Shaun Burgoyne is one hell of a talent

Have liked Massie as a player ever since the Crows got him, Bode got plenty of it, but he didn't hurt Port much

I realise that but we made Brogan look like our centre half forward in the first quarter.

Burton was on Montgomery early. Was quite funny seeing them both take off to complete opposite pockets after lining up on each other on the wing. Rarely do you see people playing 150 metres off each other.

Thats EXACTLY what I was saying throughout the game ' BROGAN DOESNT PLAY FOR THE CROWS'. A couple of times I got weird looks from Nathan Basset who was sittin a bit in front of me.

Our foward line was shocking, minus Carey.

Thought Shirley did OK considering the size mismatch.

Think Burton was on Monty for most of the game, which is why I couldn't give him any votes.

Didn't we play JT on Pickett in the earlier showdown? I'm sure I recall him doing a good job ... so why didn't we repeat this matchup?

BTW, I agree with Asguardian that Ladhams clearly had Wanganeen's jumper before P Burgoyne had his kamakaze leap.
