McLeod was playing in defence. He wasn't too bad. He wasn't great either.

He should've been playing in the middle a lot earlier.

I agree with u DaveW, McLeod should've been in the midfielder earlier. What really annoyed me was when there was 3 minutes to go, and port were chipping it around and winding down the clock. I really hate that!!

Oh well, get the ball and they can't do that to us.

Can't say i have seen much of this Scotroo guy but if that's a sample of his thought process you can take him back to pap land with you,

McLeod was disappointing at times in that he could not shake the tag of K Cornes for most of the game & though he had moments of brilliance a win once again to young Cornes,

By the way Macca how the heck did you get out on your own for so long the other night ??

you been taking lessons from Schofield or what ??

Strange move to have Macca in the backline for so long. It would probably make him the most expensive back pocket player in history! :o

The coach's handling of McLeod defies logic IMO.

Either play him on the ball or put him up forward where Perrie and Welsh were very ordinary.

0/10 to the coaching panel for this one.

As far as McLeod goes, I just don't think he is working hard enough this year. His work rate is not what it was in the past and for the past 2 years (especially this year) he has been a shadow of his former self. If he is at half back its a perfect place to break a tag by providing some run out of defence, something he hasn't done.

I was very surprised he didn't start the game in the centre and why he played nearly a whole game on half back line. He is our best onballer and for a game of that importance surely you gotta have your best players around the ball. If Kane Cornes was really giving him a hard time then Ayersy and the match committee should have moved McLeod to the goal square and leave the whole forward line open. Move Perrieand Carey to CHF and smaller players accross half forward. One out of the goalsquare, McLeod would kill Kane Cornes.

Our coaching staff really lack imagination at times.

Exactly Your Stiffness!!

That would have been the logical thing to do.

Actually I watched very closely and Cornes didn't niggle him very much at all.

At times McLeod looked almost disinterested. I was very disappointed with his attitude today. It almost looks like he's trying to send a message to the coach that unless he's in the middle or on the ball he's going to cruise!! :(

As for Ayres saying that McLeod was playing on a half-forward flank, if he genuinely believes that then I don't want street directions from him to get somewhere - you'd end up miles off course!!

You can't blame the coach for another poor performance by a team supposedly ranked no 2 a month ago.

Analyse it ...
An indifferent performance against a weakened West Coast.

A flu ridden & illprepared[travel factor]performance against Collingwood in which we surrendered the 3rd quarter, although still managing to win all the other quarters.Comprehensively beaten.

The worse performance for the year when having everything to play for & second spot against the Kangaroos.

Today against Port
Another chance to secure a double chance & at 3/4 time, kicking with a 5 goal breeze we surrender again!

In all these cases, coaching moves, haven't cost the game.

It's simply the poor performances of experienced players not taking the responsabilty for the outcome.

The players body launguage gives the impression that they are not enjoying their footy IMO. They seem pertrified of stuffing up.

Very good observation actually, we're just not enjoying the game. I think I said it somewhere else, we're mentally shot at the moment, just playing without any confidence.

It's time to break the shackles, get back to basics, free them up. Bring Stevo into the forward line, the Hound and Harty into defence, put the guns into the middle, take some risks and play some hard running football. Extremely simplistic I know and it's highly unlikely Ayresy will do it but what else can we possibly do? At least this way we might have a shot at beating WC.

Mcleod had knee surgery not that long ago.

Maybe he is still being held back by a troublesome knee and that is why he is being played everywhere except the midfield?
