Well what a game this should be. With both sides and supporters annpyed at how they finished the season we are set up for a big one. Neither side is in real form, both had bruising encounters against home rivals this week. Adelaide will go in favs being at home, but are not certainties. I myself am looking forward to the game, both sides are hard up for a premiership now so are just playing to go as far as they can/get as much improvement as possible.
May the week of rivalry begin;)

They reckon that having a home ground advantage is worth 5 goals. Will be very disappointed if we don't win by that amount at least next week.

Crows have been disappointing for the past 3 weeks in a row now.
They will have to improve in order to win IMO, even if it is a home game.

It's amazing how confident everyone is about next week's game. Everyone seems to think we'll win comfortably, and are trying to work out whether we'd rather Brisbane or Collingwood to win thier final. Recipe for disaster, shades of the Kangas game.....it's all academic anyway, it's only a contest for the right to lose to either the Lions or the Pies the following weekend.

For you perhaps it is that, but for us its us clasping at any signs of improvement on last year. With all the great games etc we've had this year we've still only finished 1 spot higher, making second round of finals instead of first would help us significantly i believe as not only have our youngsters played 2 finals but won one. Also as many problems as adelaide have WCE have at least equal amounts. Its an opportunity for both sides to try and get it right to finish season 2003 ie get a win this week by playing good solid footy then at least giving the best we can the week after against whoever!

well I would rather be positive than a grumpy old fart like you Ant!!! I do think we will win - simply because we are a better side than the Weagles. Stop trying to drag everyone down to your depth of despair. Cheer up Ant!

Sorry, previous post was looking at it completely from an Adelaide perspective.
And our problems lie in the fact we're not at the same level as the better teams in the league, but many of us (including our players) like to think so. I'm sure you've had equal amounts of your own problems, whatever those may be.
I'm extremely ****ed off at your lot after your effort today. Couldn't win, and didn't have the decency to totally tank the game and give us a home final.
Huge grudge match this one ;)

Slowly coming around to your way of thinking ant,
just need that little extra shove to go over the edge,
Hope it's not this week though.
Was beaten by a much superior team today but it was still a lot better effort than last weeks,

Look, don't get me wrong. I'm not depressed. I was last week, but looking at things now, and even at today's game, I was pleased with the outcome. It was the best we could have achieved with what we have.
WC will be a tough team to beat. They'll have nothing to lose and they'll come here feeling confident that they have the tools to come away with a win. We're a tired, old team, exhausted after a very hard run home. We're mentally shot I think. Ayres' press conference said a lot to me. However, at home, we're a chance at victory. But if you were to look ahead, honestly, it isn't a pretty sight.

I don't share your thoughts at all. I know we are a much better team than we have shown over the past 3 weeks. I know we can beat anybody on anyday if we play our best footy.
If you think you are beaten - you are.
I choose not to be beaten.

They do?? Their CHF McDougall received a broken jaw, Jakovich pulled a hamstring and McIntosh got reported. They will be struggling for key position players and we should have all options available.
We WILL win this one.

That's the thing though, the boys do think they're beaten.
They may not admit it but they know they are. It's as clear as day. You can see it in the way they play, it's in their eyes.
I wish you could get out there and play Mark's Girl but you can't unfortunately.

They have forward deficiencies, sure, but I think they have a much better and potentially more damaging than the Kangas, and they could do a real number on us. I'm not sure how Gardiner pulled up as well, but he's the type of dominating ruckman that can really cause us terrible headaches.
And I look back to the recent game against WC where they were missing a number of players, where they were at a really low ebb and yet they were very competitive for a lot of that match. If we let their runners go, we could be in a bit of strife.
If our mental approach is off at all, we're in a lot of trouble IMO.

We should account for West Coast if we play with yesterdays attitude & get slections & matchups right. Stenglein on Cousins, Shirley on Judd, & let the rest do their business.
I would return Stevens to the forward line with Carey & play Perrie off the bench. We need to get back to rotating our midfielders as too many ran out of steam come the last quarter.
Tough selections ahead. Those I would consider dropping for the 3 likely ins are Ladhams, Burns, Bickley, Torney & Reilly. The former 3 have been average for a while now.
Possible team:
B: Hart, Bassett, Smart
HB: Massie, McGregor, Torney
C: Burton, Stenglein, Shirley
HF: Goodwin, Carey, Johncock
F: Bode, Stevens, McLeod
R: Clarke, Ricciuto, Edwards
I: Biglands, Perrie, Welsh, Reilly
In: Hart, Bassett, Stevens
Out: Ladhams, Burns, Bickley

I have no doubt we'll win this one and win well...
It's the coming flogging at the MCG or the Gabba which has me in a state of distress.

Sorry but you are delusional, that will never happen.
And if you really must play Stevens in the forward line, then it has to be on the Half Forward line, and preferably at CHF.

I knew I would get some responses to my post.
Can you guys honestly tell me that Ladhams, Burns & Bickley have played decent football recently???
BTW, it is what I would consider doing, not what I think the selectors would do. Reilly will probably get dropped, but if we were serious about our future, Reilly would get a game - I hate picking a player for just 1 game, then dropping him. But Bicks as a legend of the club probably deserves another chance this week. Ladhams & Burns should defintely be dropped.

Ladhams' form has been disappointing recently. But we know what he is capable of. Bode's return to form was heartening, hopefully Ladhams can follow suit.
Burns has been out of sorts for a while. I tend to agree that he's not in our best 22.

Good point. However, i wouldnt drop Burns simply cos he's one of those players that can turn it on unexpectedly. He runs hot when he's at best.
Truthfully, Reilly didnt play well on the weekend, but it should be taken into consideration that he didnt see too much game time. Its a toss up having him in next week or not, but I'm all about the team at the moment, and I doubt that Brent being in it is going to help us win. I think Gary will drop him though, and bring in Basset. We NEED Basset.

Reilly's nowhere near up to it at the moment. He shouldn't have been in the side last week, and certainly shouldn't be in this week. Thinking of the future or not, he needs to be dropped. Playing him to increase his confidence and his experience isn't going to contribute to us winning an elimination final, and I think it's a huge risk having him in the side ahead of proven performers. Save it for the Wiz Wok Cup next year.
