getting in great form over in the county season coming into the Australian season.
anyone seen higlights from it or anything??
Can't remember which county he plays for, just read it in the scores section of the paper
Here's the scorecard (http://uk.cricinfo.com//link_to_database/ARCHIVE/2003/ENG_LOCAL/CC1/SCORECARDS/25-29AUG2003/NOTTS_LEICS_CC1_26-29AUG2003.html) Better than run a ball pace! 202 of it came through fours and sixes.
Mke Hussey also recently scored a triple hundred (http://uk.cricinfo.com//link_to_database/ARCHIVE/2003/ENG_LOCAL/CC2/SCORECARDS/13-17AUG2003/SOMERSET_NORTHANTS_CC2_14-17AUG2003.html).
His third in first-class cricket. (All for Northamptonshire.) Which puts him in pretty elite company.
The only other players to score that many 300s are Bradman (6), Ponsford (4), Hammond (4), Grace (3) and Hick (3).

hahaha!! spot the odd men out ;) Bradman, Ponsford and Grace have surnames that don't begin with H? :p
Hussey is the only player not to have played Test cricket.
Hick is the only Test failure.

But is it at the wrong end of the season?
Even if Hodge plays like this until February, what chance does he have to crack the Aussie side? None!
Waugh has a mortgage on his spot. Lehmann's solidified his. Love is shaky. Martyn is ready to replace him. Clarke waits for his chance...
The others (Ponting, Hayden, Langer, Gilchrist) are all entrenched.
I just hope his form holds so that he can help lift Victoria to the Shield / ING cup double.

I'm not sure how much importance you can place on county form in the context of test cricket and our doemtstic comp. - but still a great effort by both and good to see from a backup point of view.

I would've thought the top 6 were all pretty much locked in, the only query would be as to who bats 4,5 and 6 out of Martyn, Lehmann and Waugh (personally I'd have them in that order, which I suspect is how they will start)
My gawd.. Phil De Freitas is still playing! Good work by him... oh and a nice 300 for Hodge too!

Let's hope he can show some of that form for the mighty Vics

I would think the Australian side will be picked from:
1. Matt Hayden
2. Justin Langer
3. Ricky Ponting
4. Darren Lehmann
5. Damien Martyn
6. Steve Waugh
7. Adam Gilchrist
8. Brett Lee
9. Jason Gillespe
10. Stuart MacGill
11. Glenn McGrath
12. Martin Love
13. Michael Clarke
14. Andrew Bichel
15. Shane Warne (when available)
And, these 15 players will be the only 15 to play for Australia in the next 2 - 3 years or so.
The one day side on the other hand is a lot more open to change with the likes of Harvey, Symonds, Martyn, Maher never really having the kinds of continued good form that commands that they be picked long term. This would be the side I would imagine Hodge has his best chance to be picked in.

Hodge goesin streaks. When he is in form he is bloody awesome and is ruthless. When he is out of touch he looks horrible. If he can hold onto this streak for a while he might be a chance if a couple of spots do become available.

English County Cricket is an absolute shambles. Having actually paid to sit through Surrey v Hampshire game once I nearly nodded off more than once.
Not that I'm disparaging Hussey's achievement or Hodges, but the opposition is mediocre at best. The fact that Hick has scored 3 as well, just goes to show the state of the game there, as it should be Hack, not Hick.
I've seen better standard at family backard matches at Xmas.
