You recently returned to the field as part of a Lions Legends team that played in between the Brisbane Lions’ NAB Cup matches at Etihad Stadium. How did you pull up?
I didn’t pull up too well after havig a bit of a kick and run, I can assure you that. It’s funny when you don’t do it too often how sore you can get for the next couple of days. It was good fun. I still catch up a bit with ‘Doc’ Wheildon, we go away and do a spot of fishing a couple times a year, so it was good to get out there and have a kick with him.
I actually got a bit of a kick behind my knee - I don’t know how it happened. I ended up with a huge bruise down the back of my leg for the next week. I thought, geez, I never got a bruise like that throughout my playing career. Maybe it was because we’d had a couple of lagers throughout the evening which might have gotten the blood flowing a bit. It was a good night.

Fullpointsfooty (http://www.fullpointsfooty.net/b.htm#Jason%20Baldwin%20%28Fitzroy%20&%20Richmond%29)
Thinly built at 180cm and just 76kg, Jason Baldwin was nevertheless a highly combative footballer who typically attacked the ball with great ferocity, and usually used it well when he had it. Fitzroy recruited him from Coldstream and used him in numerous roles during the course of his 125 game senior career with the club between 1989 and 1996. When the club disbanded at the end of the 1996 season he crossed to Richmond but managed just another 2 AFL games.

Baldwin was never an out and out star player, but he was a very good reliable wingman for the Roys.
For us old Roys, the 'Blast from the Past' articles are fantastic. Big :thumbsu: to the Lions for such an initiative.

Baldwin had a bit of "old school" about him, which I really liked.
In Rd. 8 1994, Fitzroy were playing Nth Melbourne and Wayne Carey whacked Peter Sartori from behind after Sartori had taken a mark. In the ensuing melee, Baldwin levelled up beautifully with a neat uppercut delivered with clinical precision into the scrum.
Baldwin was always a bit of a favourite at Fitzroy in the later years.
