Rate him extremely highly.
Gun footballer, and I said on the main board, I reckon he could be a multiple all-australian barring injury or a massive form reversal.
Just wondering, is he now likely to stay up forward for a long period of time after his six goal haul??
Despite that, I still see him as being more valuable in the backline for you guy's because there is a bit of a drop in the quality of defenders at the moment (both small and tall) so I'd like to see him used more back there.
I'm also very annoyed that we missed him, being a WA boy and all (even if we got Andrew McDougall instead of McGrath), so I'd like to see us make ammends for that, and just wondering if Brisbane would consider a trade, and what they'd be looking for......

Hmmm, good question. High draft pick and someone else.

Yes, my reading of the situation is that his trade value would be similar to Dean Cox - both very talented, but McGrath being two years young would put him a bit higher, but Cox being a ruckman, would probably even it back up.
But I'd only trade Cox if we got a backup ruckman.
Cox I'd consider to be worth a top pick in the 6-8 region, similar to McGrath.
I mentioned on the Eagles board, I'd try and look at pick 12 (probably our first pick) and Phil Read..........probably have to bargain each other around abit though.

Yeah, I'm not familiar with Eagles players. I would say a high draft pick and Darren Glass (I wanted Glass last year coz I rate him very highly) However, we don't need him with the likes of Weller and Bradshaw holding up Key Positions in the backline.
If we lose Bradshaw or Michael however due to salary cap pressures, we should look at getting Glass.
Maybe Richard Hadley for Glass? As much as it hurts for me to say that.

wow you really rate Glass highly??? One o fthe first opposition fans i've seen say that :p
he is OK, and he is a required player for us for the moment, but only because we have a REAL lack of quality down there.
If we can secure Jon Hay in the trade period, than Glass could be a goer and some talk could happen, but we can't get rid of Glass without that happening.

Glass is a good young player and with more experience will turn into a very good defender.

It would not surprise me at all actually.
Afterall they have Cory on the senior list and Toby on the rookie list. They are in a better position of getting Ash. It would not surprise me if they try and get the cousin Martin McGrath from Richmond.
Regarding Jamie, the club better do all they can to keep him. We can't lose him. He's valuable to us and if we lose him, we're stuffed in the ruck as the two older ruckman are prone to injuries. He's stepped up bigtime. If Essendon want a ruckman from us, Dylan McLaren, Beau McDonald or Clark Keating. As far as I'm concerned, Jamie is going to be our number 1 ruckman in the next few years and he will stay on our list. We can't let him go or Essendon will rip us off again. Essendon were looking at him last year. Kevin Sheedy rates him, so it would not surprise me if Essendon are looking at him this year. They won't get him though. If they do, I will be one angry man.

When does Ashley McGrath contract finish??
I'd assume, this being his second year, that this is the final year of his contract?? And i'd assume he hasn't re-signed if that is the case as of yet?
