Roy Boys, What a fabulous site.
The Fitzroy Football Club is getting a website up, but given the workload at the moment with the establishment of an U.19 side and the opening of the VAFA season in three weeks, I've got my hands full.
The Jumper Presentation Night is in the Community Room at the Brunswick St.ground on Thurs.19th Apr. at about 8PM.(After Training.) Pie & Grog night. We are sponsoring the FITZROY Reds team for 2001 for $5000 and our name will be on the back of the Fitzroy jumper that they wear with our full approval. Dyson wil be there to present the 4' long cheque and the our favourite Fitzroy champion, Bernie Quinlan will be there subject to his commitments at Port Melbourne.
The Fitzroy Football Club is very much in existence and tell your Roy Boy mates to join up. $15 Concessional, $20 Adult and $25 Family. You get a traditional 1986 style membership card and a gold coloured lapel badge. (Refer Olmy 3/4)
The big news is that the Fitzroy Football Club is asking its members to help it select the Club's greatest XVIII covering the period 1884 to our last selected team at Subiaco on the 1st September 1996. Full details will be in the ROYBOY Newsletter that is going to press on Monday. To get and be eligible to select the team you must be a current registered member of the Fitzroy Football Club Ltd. (The one and same Corporation that used to have an AFL licence)
All membership enquiries should be sent to the Secretary FFC Ltd 7/463 Main St Mordialloc Vic 3195 or EMAIL atherton@oznetpc.com. Fax 03 9587 0730
Fitzroy will never die and we have simply gone back to where we originally came from.

Cannot wait for the Web site Bill, and maybe you could also use this more often now that you are in, would be also good for messages, as here in the UK we are sort of out of it.

Couldn't agree more Glenn.

It's good to have you on board Bill. Hopefully, by now you will have received my membership renewal from the UK.

Fitzroy for ever!

Hopefully, you're selling memberships at the praccy game today, Bill (Brian Thompson AC/DC lookalike, complete with cap).

Good to see you in the wiring!

Cheers,

Kev Court.
PS : I'm on the wagon, off the grog, thought I'd better warn you early, it might be an eerie experience. The dill on the hill has drunk his fill. Now I will be able to follow the pill, Bill. (Grouse, I can still pen a bad ditty) http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Yes, welcome Bill.

Is the greatest team competition related to the function being hosted by the Brisbane Lions next month?

I was under the impression that function was to name the best team of Royboys from 1897 to 1996.

Did everyone catch the article on Fitzroy in yesterday's Sunday Age. In the PSSST column at the back, there is a reasonable amount of text describing the upcoming season with Fitzroy and their association with the Fitzroy Reds. I have just written to the author (Warwick Green) and asked him if I can post it here. Upon him giving permission, I will re-type the article in full. It was a really good piece, pushing the Fitzroy football club in a very positive manner.

Bill, do you think Mr Green will come down and check out the Roys this year?

Cheers,
FitzroyRamone

Thanks for the welcome.
Did you enjoy the Sunday Age write up?
Forgot to mention that the Fitzroy Boys & Girls will have their monthly meeting at the Lord Newry on the last Thursday of the month.
The Fitzroy Reds Jumper Presentation Night is on The Thursday after Easter, 19/4, and with a little bit of luck Bernie Q. willl be there. He is not only one of our greatest champions, but also a fabulous person.
Get those memberships in, we have to keep the Club relative to the real world.

Fat Pizza,
Our greatest team is not related to the 3rd May Function at the Hyatt.
Wlilst Fitzroy people are selected in the team, the FFC itself was not involved.
Ramone: Mr Green has indicated that Mr Flannagan will reort on the ROYS this year.
Keep in touch for the hotlines.

Thanks for the news, Bill. Martin Flanagan is a great journo and like all good Age journalists, is a little to the Left, especially when it comes to football!

Cheers,

Thankyou Bill.
I'm glad the Fitzroy legends are being honoured, no matter who is behind it.

I think that both celebrations have merit (you have to give Brisbane a little bit of credit for doing the "team of the century" bit) but I reckon that our celebration should be at our old meeting place, Fitzroy Town Hall, but it should be a complimentry celebration rather that a compeating one

The Fitzroy Reds Unofficial Supporters Guide looks terrific. Well done Fitzroy Ramone.
Whilst the Reds have their opening game away at City Reserve on the 21st, the U.19s have their opening hit out against Uni Blacks at the Melbourne University Oval at the same time. This is a combine side between the Reds and Ivanhoe and the two Clubs will go it alone as soon as we have enough U.19s to mahe up our own sides.
Don't forget the Luncheon at our opening HOME GAME on Sat.the 28th at Brunswick Street. You have to book by Thurs.26th April. Cost is $10 Donation plus raffle etc.
Some of our FFC heroes who played their in the 50s & 60s will be their, so it should be a great day - particularly if we thrash our old adversiary, Sth.Melbourne.
The Season Tickets have come up really great and will be going out next weekend.
See you at the Jumper night on Thursday and Bernie is coming.
