Got a call from the Pommy bloke who's come over, and wants to see a footy match. I've called him back and arranged to let him know how to meet for the next one as soon as I know when and where.
Have since learnt that the round opening is next Saturday in Richmond, and will be contacting the bloke about it shortly.
Don't worry mate, I'll look after him.

Sounds familiar.
I've often asked myself what would have happened if, when I "came over", I had been taken to see Collingwood or Richmond or etc.
The answer's easy. I would have missed out on supporting the greatest team the VFL/AFL has ever seen.
I do not regret being introduced to Fitzroy for one minute. My views on the people (ir)responsible for the running (?) the AFL are somewhat different.
Fitzroy for ever!

UK Roy, I was at a preseason comp game once at Waverley, and ran into one of the best backpacker assortments I could have had the pleasure to meet (apart from my seppo missus, of course).
A pom, a mick, a scot, a canuck and a kiwi, all at the match, all barracking for the Roys ... and ... need I say it ... all up to the back teeth in grog.
Bloody entertaining bunch, I have to say! We lost the game, it was that one sometime when we drew with Essendon and they made changes and beat us in extra time. All of us shared a taxi back home (my place in Carnegie was on the way to their hostel in St Kilda), with one of them (you guessed it, the Irishman), hidden in the boot of the cab, because we couldn't fit us all into the taxi.
I would have to say the tourists all enjoyed the night out, too, assuming they had any recollection of it.

Thanks Kev, he's staying at the Royal Derby in Brunny Street a drop kick from the Lord Newry and a further flick pass from the Brunny Street Oval, why not the "W Stephen" oval?
