Pumped Paul's purple people plea

People, wear purple.
That’s the request from livewire Fremantle forward Paul Medhurst in the lead-up to the First Elimination Final at Subiaco on Friday night.
Medhurst made the plea just before training on Tuesday night, which saw a crowd in excess of 5000 turn out for the Dockers’ last public training session before the big game.
Kevin Sheedy pleaded with Essendon fans to turn Telstra Dome in to a ‘House of Horrors’ in round 21 when the Bombers got hold of Fremantle in the last term and beat them by 10 goals, and Medhurst wants to return the favour this week.
The bubbly racoon-haired forward could barely contain his enthusiasm as he looked forward to the game.
“It’s so exciting,” he said.
“Hopefully there’s a pack of people here tonight, and the energy levels of everyone lifts, and hopefully everyone can turn out.”
“I know it’s not a purple theme, but seeing the purple around the ground’s fantastic, and we’d encourage everyone to come down there. They’re the Purple Army, get behind us and the louder the better as far as we’re concerned.”
The second-year forward from Claremont said he could hardly wait until Friday arrived.
“No, not at all – what are we, Tuesday?
“I’m just so excited – it’s a short turn-around, and we’ve got a couple of sore guys, so we certainly need every day we can to get them up, but Friday night’s going to be a cracker, and we can’t wait.”
Medhurst, who slotted 48 majors in the regular season – a terrific effort for a small forward – said that far from telling the players to tone down the goal celebrations, coach Chris Connolly wanted them to arc them up.
“We’re thinking about that. If the crowd gets involved, I think the more the crowd’s pumping, the more we sort of tend to get carried away with it, and Chris is all for big celebrations and big goals, so if we can get the energy off the crowd, we’ll give it back to them.”
