View Full Version : Saturday night

Good luck for Saturday night, and may the best team win.
Of course I'm hoping for a Magpie victory, but Brisbane is a magnificent side, and a very strong flag contender. I reckon there are three veteran flag-winning sides in the 8, Lions, Crows and Bombers, but only Brisbane had the strength to drag themselves into the top 4.
We have an uproven team, trying to become what your lot are-respected champions. It is a very fitting test of strength, against the best side around. Playing at our home ground and the likely weather conditions make it more of an even contest, so it should be close.
I' sorry to hear about all the injuries, it's a pleasure to see blokes like Voss at their best (although he's pretty good on one leg, as we saw in last years GF). I was horrified by the injury to Scott, it was a disgrace that he was hurt basically running in a straight line. I can't pretend he's my favourite player but you wouldn't wish that on anyone. I hope he sues Dockland and/or the AFL, that surface is a menace.
A few people have mentioned this and I agree: whoever wins this game will be flag favourite. To the victor, the spoils.

Firstly, yes feel free to post on the forum. We don't bite.
This game will have it all. I am willing to tip another Brisbane V Collingwood Grand Final, so this I guess you could say is a warm-up, but we better not play like it is a warm-up. Whoever wins this, will most likely play in the Grand Final. So it's a big game for both teams concerned. Harty's 250th, gives extra incentive to win the game. The loser will most likely have to travel to Moron Park in the Prelim Final (providing Port beat Sydney, which they unfortunately will as Sydney won't get near them) and Collingwood I would prefer to play over there instead of us. So we need to win.
The injury to Scott was devastating, but football is football and injuries are a common thing unfortunately.
If Collingwood and Brisbane make the Grand Final, it will be better than last year's and it will be a tougher contest.
Thanks for the words and may the best team win and may it be a good contest without reports and injuries.
Good Luck!

yeah, what sb said. :)
Cyclops, thanks for your post, it's always nice to have opposition supporters come down and have a proper chat about games. :) Feel free to pop in anytime!!!!!!
I think Collingwood have every right to feel quietly confident about beating us, it's definitely possible. Should be a very even contest and a fairly close one, and I'd say if Collingwood can win then they could be VERY confident of playing in another Grand Final.
Good luck, and may the better side win. And I hope that's us. ;)

hehe, same. ;)
Well done Brisbane, they fought like hell and it if it wasn't for injuries it would've been a lot closer (and I think I'd be in the coronary unit).
After the first half I was spitting chips about the umps, but in the second half they went even further the other way-that made at least a goals difference. Shameful display by the umps, they just blatantly favoured whichever side was making the running.
Good luck against the Crows and hopefully we'll see you in the GF.

Thanks Cyclops - very nice of you to come down here and not gloat, which would be justified. :)
The umpiring certainly WAS pathetic, thankfully it was shocking decisions on BOTH sides though.......well that doesn't make it better but you know what I mean. :p
Congrats on the win and for being such a gracious winner, and all the best for your Prelim. :) And let's hope we meet again in a few weeks. ;)
