i gotta say the girls in the fitzroy cheer squad were pretty much shockers!
st kilda had the best lookin girls

I've always rated Melbourne's female supporter base, but I don't earn over $100,000 p.a. therefore they wouldn't deign to look at me..............

Oh come off it, there were some bonzer sorts at the Roys, you just had to know where to look.
Or ... you could just do what I did, stand on the terrace at the Western Oval and periodically yell out 'SOMEBODY MARRY ME'.
The girls were amenable as all Hell, but nobody took me up on the offer. It's still a quandary too this day.

I actually think Carlton's female supporters are the best looking in the league. But then again, I'm always up for livin' da vida loca!!!

One of the great constants when following the Roys was the large number of ladies of a 'certain age' who also came along. These ladies seemed to be Roys supporters because their father/family had been Fitzroy types and there was a lovely feeling of love , nostalgia and low expectation. Life, it seemed, hadn't been overly kind to them but they took great comfort in returning to their spiritual 'Roys' home - their children gone, husband gone. We would have wonderful chats about lifestyles long forgotten and, on the odd occasion, revell in a 'famous victory'.
I remember leaving the MCG after the 86 semi v Swans, arm in arm with a gaggle of our lady supporters, chatting on and marvelling at success. I reckon it stripped 20 years from them.
I do wonder if they ever recovered from that loss of community and contact, however brief, with others who understood.
My missus always said we had the best sheilas following Fitzroy because the players were better looking than any other club had, so girls flocked to the games, and of course the colours were an advantage.
Where did this terrible rumor about ugliness start? Shame, shame, shame!
Any of the good looking girls in the cheer squad (the two out of 30 will know who they are) can email me for sympathetic discussion.

hmmm very 50/50 that call
some have huge noses and facial hair. and some look like Barb off the Footy Show. they do have their fare share of stunners tho
