As all Melbourne -based fans know, attendance at a final v Pies is an imposing experience - bit like a leftie at the Nuremburg Rally. If you can get away with a win, let alone an unmolested rail trip home, it can sustain belief. Last night was the other side of the coin. We lacked a match winner and yet again in Melbourne, finished the game with a struggling bench. Shades of the 1999 finals race. We were the hunted and we've taken some big hits.
However, the kids - who bravely get the gear on and wave the flags - were uplifted by a fantastic moment. We literally bumped into Kevin Murray. He was so enthusiastic - got their names, had a chat, showed them the Brownlow that he keeps around his neck, encouraged them to carry on barracking hard. He's 60+ going on 18. Gave everyone a huge boost - thanks Bulldog !
