ok, so firstly congrats to a great career mcintosh... bout time the ole fart retired. hehehe. jokin guys. he was a legend in his day, it is always sad to see a true champion teeter off at the end
now secondly, afl.com.au are running a poll on their website as to who has had a better year, dockers or eagles... now i know im a bit biased but i reckon we were sooo much better.. 82% say dockers!!... it was just unfair about injuries.. we would have done so much better, maybe im biased but that's a loada bull.. 82 percent reckon they were better than us.. i reckon that last derby would have made up everybodies mind
thoughts on either of the two matters guys/gals?

Yeah - the derby would have swayed a lot of people, but I guess it's the overall picture too.
14 wins to 12,
5th place to 7th,
Improvement of Freo from 12th to 5th, Eagles from 8th to 7th.
It's easy to say "if it weren't for the injuries", but that's footy... every club has injuries but it's the ability to rise above that with the depth of the list (look at bloody Sydney today!).
So, I guess it's just the colour of the glasses you look at it with. Personally I reckon we had a better overall season (although you're first half was way ahead of ours)... but maybe I'm biased too.
Freo probably had a better season because they made more improvement.
The Eagles best was better than the Dockers best.
The Eagles worst was worse than the Dockers worst.
Injuries certainly played their part, but at the end of the day I gave the Dockers more chance of getting past week one of the finals than the Eagles.

it is an interesting question, and I reckon scmods somes it up beautifully because at our best we beat Port, Collingwood, Brisbane got within 2 goals of Sydney - the top 4 teams in the comp after Roudn 22.
But we also drew to the Bulldogs and Geelong, lost to Hawthorn and got embarrased by St Kilda.

Moving awat from the point, the Dockers were the best team to watch this year. Similar to Collingwood of 2001.
The Dockers enjoyed more improvement but it's easier to imnprove from 12th than it is from 8th. Our best was miles ahead of Fremantle's but like we always do, we fell apart with 6 weeks left in the season.
In all honesty the season came down to one game. Had we won the derby we would have finished top 4 and would still be in the hunt for a GF spot. But we lost the derby finished below the Dockers and were ousted by the Crows. So Im sure that last Derby does sway a lot of minds.
In all honesty I dont really care who had the better year, the bottom line is that the Eagles didnt win the premiership. So it's back to the drawing board to do it all again. Oh and for the record, I think both WA sides were pretty even. Both teams were full of so much promise and potential only to fall over when they needed to standup.
