I've just had a look at the stats:
Clangers:

Brown - 7
White - 5
Lappin - 4
Leppa - 4
Charman - 4
Black - 3
Aker - 3
Johnno - 3
Bradshaw - 3
etc

Total: 48!!!!!!!!

I didn't think Brown was that bad, but Lappin couldn't seem to do a thing right, other than the goal in the 3rd qtr.

What tremendous pressure the Pies were able to apply all night.

It's not pretty football, but geez it's effective.

Watching the match I thought the thing that stood out the most in the second half was indeed the Brisbane first-pickup misses. A lot of over-running of the ball and mark-missing tap-ons etc.

In short, Brisbane really did seem to play very badly in the second half.

On the other hand, Collingwood weren't overly starring either, but I thought their defensive work was error-free, even if their attacking work was not.

Brisbane's main errors I reckon occurred in the midfield.

To speculate, Voss. Not his absence, but the effect his absence had on his team-mates. It looked as if they were panicking, and I truly believe they missed the cool-headed leadership Voss would surprise.

To use a Port Adelaide term, they choked when the game was up for grabs, and I maintain that they did so because they had confidence troubles with their mercurial trendsetter hobbling around without abiliy to impact.

Good luck next week Lions, Adelaide will be no easy task.

Agreed - they were certainly rudderless in the midfield. Lappin just seemed to bumble and fumble and while Aka tried hard, starting the 4th qtr on the bench was very odd. Black did his best, Power seemed a bit quiet and Hart was close to best player after a good first half and then quietening Buckley down. Sure missed Shattock and fit Scott brothers.

Copeland impressed and he looks a dead cert for a fulltime half-back flanker/rotate through the middle type.

With hindsight, the Pies should've buried us by about 6 goals, but for the defensive pressure we applied, putting them under the pump when they had the ball.

Amazingly there is no thread devoted to the umpiring, but I found the second half totally mystifying.

Rocca's and Lynch's (non)marks?
Free kick against Tarrant?
Countless high tackles and in the backs that weren't pinged?

(Mind you the first 50 m penalty against Bradshaw was perhaps the softest 50 I've seen in some time)

That's funny, I found the first half umpiring totally mystifying. Frees: 12-3 for your lot at half time. Funny how you left out the first half. ;)

You blokes really know how to ingratiate yourselves.

OK, I have a conflict of interest, I am a Lions supporter.

With that in mind, I thought that the umpiring was reasonable in the first half. A Pies supporter might've thought that it was unreasonable based purely on the ststs, but looking at the infringements, I thought it was OK.

The freekick count was lopsided, but you don't need to be Eddie to understand that freekick counts don't necessarily reflect the standard of the umpiring. Most of those frees were there.

In the 2nd half, the umpires seemed to decide to even it up and frees that might've been given weren't. That is what annoys me the most - the lack of consistency.

If you'd bothered to read the post, you'd've read that I was amazed by Rocca's non-mark and the free against Tarrant, amongst others.

I'm interested to know the clanger counts for the year on the 2 Brownlow Medal winners in that list. I'm betting the numbers are thru the roof.
