View Full Version : Pick #11

Just looking through some of the threads from last year, trying to 2nd guess who we would draft and we were not even close. I'm just glad our scouts know the Brent Stakers and the Adam Selwoods of the world. Having said that, the top tier u18 players get lots of attention and most of us have either seen them play on fox during the carnival or have read profiles etc So while I wouldn't bother trying to guess who we will pick up with our later picks, who would you like to see us pick up with our first pick? Presuming we don't go with a smokee like Bonson or Burges, I would GUESS our first pick would come from players such as Farren Ray, Matthew Moody, Colin Sylvia, Andrew Walker, Fergus Watts or Rylee Dunn.

I'd like to see us get Farren Ray, if he is still available. Otherwise second preference would be Matt Moody.

I'd be very suprised if both were taken before pick 11.

Prepare to be surprised. Ray will be gone by 4, Moody is a chance and could even last longer than 11 but I wouldn't bet my house on the Eagles being overly interested, that's if they don't trade it which is a distinct possibility.

How do you know the Eagles aren't interested in Moody? He would have gone top 5-10 last year. You would think Cooney, Tenace, Bradley, Clarke, Sylvia, Walker and even Chaplin would all go before Ray. He might not make it but he would still be a chance to be there at #11. Some of the draft people on this board say he has a number of problems in his game that need rectifying. Weaver went as far to say he wouldnt be taken until about 35 and compared him to Clinton King.

...and this is based on your vast footy experience of trolling on various boards.

I'd be very shocked if Ray went in the top 5. He is a gun talent, but he is very small and a bit in the Callum Chambers mould, but I'd say he'll be a better footballer than CC.

11 is a real chance to pick him up, but I'd also be very shocked if he lasted past the first round.

BT Sera, weaver really does have an idea when it comes to drafting. Farren and Kepler certainly know how to get the ball but their use of it is shocking. Effective disposal that is. I agree with him on Farren, the fact that he has a left foot doesn't mean it is effective.

I dont think he will go top 10 either to be honest. As for Moods, he has had an indifferent year so I really don't know, I'd like to see him fire up for the gf though aka last year.

You doubter's are welcome to come back on here after the National Draft and tell me that I was correct about Ray.

Which boards have I been trolling on Jabber? I think you tend to handle the truth somewhat carelessly.

You have lost me Carly. What have the Roos got to do with Yakuza posting about the Draft.

Is someone restricted to only commenting on their football team and their selections in the draft?

Yakuza has an interest in the Draft and is sharing his opinions on it. No harm in that as far as I am concerned.

Primarily the Eagles & Dockers boards, although there is one token posting on the Kangaroos board - nothing like showing your support.

The Search button is a wonderful thing, pretty much takes handling of the truth out of the equation.

Fair suck of the sav, stupid! If you look back through the majority of his posts on this or any other board you would see that in at least 80% of the cases he is talking about trades or the draft. I am sure there are a few boards out there who would quite readily put the two words carlyp and troll in the same sentence as well.

Thanks West Coast Stre it's reassuring to know that there open minded intelligent people like yourself on this site. You see poor carlyp, I am sorely tempted to ignore him, is just a sad sack that doesn't really know a lot about football or anything else for that matter. Generally when loser's like him or her are confronted with stronger more intelligent people they tend to become very negative and as is the case with carlyp, very abusive.
As it happens I know a lot about the Draft and in fact have been directly involved with all aspects of it for many years, in fact since its inception.
All I have done on this topic is give an opinion, one I am confident will prove to be very accurate. I am not asking anyone to agree or disagree.
As for you carlyp, I will post where and when I like and I suggest that you stick to subjects that you know something about, that's if there are any.

I suggest that you stick to the Topic Jabber not that you know much about it. You could start by giving us the benefit of your knowledge and tell us where you think Ray and Moody will go in the Draft, or is that too difficult for you?

And you know me so well dont you ********! I would suggest that you actually restrain yourself to talking about stuff and people you know instead of making wild guesses about me.

FYI, Im a girl ********. Thats right, A GIRL! Im negative towards you because all I see you post on this board is troll type stuff that nobody cares about. Your a Roos fan and you come on to the eagles board and post your ****. You were even here on derby week, why the **** did you think it was important to get involved on Derby week when your not even a docker or Eagle fan? Where is the logic in that asshole?

As it happens I know a lot about the Draft and in fact have been directly involved with all aspects of it for many years, in fact since its inception.

Well good for you

Thats just it, nobody cares what you think! Your a troll and you lost all credibility in Derby week mate!

I dont really care mate. I suggest that you take some of your own advice ********!

Difficult - no more than guessing lotto numbers.
As I have seen neither play, or have inside knowledge of the 16 AFL clubs recruiting philosophies, I am unable to form an objective opinion that isn't tainted by someone elses bias.
Guessing draft order past the top 2-3 picks is a mugs game, we shall see how lucky your guess was in a few weeks.

Again I have to ask you, how well do you know me? How would you know? If I were you I would refrain from judging me or anyone else for that matter unless you have personally met them and know them.

Call it fence sitting if you like, I explained my reasons in my last post. If I had any knowledge of the draftees beyond what I have read in these forums I'd gladly give you an opinion.
This years draft is not as cut and dried as 2001 for example where there were clear standouts in each category.

Carlyp, you poor confused girl I really think you would benefit by visiting Nornalup where it is peaceful and serene and removed from all the pressures of every day life. I have taken the liberty of showing your postings to one of my friends who is a Clinical Psychologist and who specializes in treating young people with aggressive behaviour problems. She asked me to let you know that she would be willing to help you.

Ah the sign of a weak individual, when he refuses to respond to my thoughts. I'll say it once more for your benefit Yakuza, you really have no right to comment on me when you dont know me. Furthermore, you really have no reason to be posting on this board. Your not an Eagle fan and nowhere have we mentioned the Kangaroos. Why dont you go and post on the Kangas board? Thats right because you would rather troll here. Why dont you POQ!

I reckon the Eagles would either go for Moody or Spencer at pick #11.
I don't think Ray won't be around at 11 unless you have a similar situation to schammer last year. Bradley will be gone before pick 11. So in terms of local talent that will leave you with a choice of three blokes; Moody, Spencer and Surjan. As a dockers fan I'd be pretty happy to pick up Moody, even if he hasn't been as good this year, but I think you will take him at 11. That would leave us with a choice out of Spencer and Surjan.

On the Peel Thunder website it says the Bulldogs will probably take Farren Ray with pick 4. Why would they do that? Thats just silly IMO, they already have plenty of Farren Ray types on their list. I have seen both him and Bradley play and I would take Bradley before him easily...

I doubt the Eagles would take Spencer, they already have many players in the build type role he plays.
