What the ****? How did Guerra get dropped?

He didnt 'do enough'. A bit hard to 'do enough' when you hardly get any time on the GROUND!!!!!!!!!!!! For f*cks SAKE Chocco! If you want to make a future gun LEAVE, you're going the right way about it! I just hope you have a good deal in mind!:mad:

Interesting, thought he did OK with limited opportunity last week. Love to have him at Richmond if he cracks it............

Guerra should be bloody spewing at this turn of events
I thought he was your second or third best player on Sunday.
Crows would be happy to have him when Bicks retires.
CCC is past it in my view.

Che is OK, but when its our midfield being thrashed, I can't understand why we'd bring another forward in.

11 Sep 2003, 19:58
Porthos, what do you think about Nick playing out of a pocket?
Well that's that, Guerra is now 100% coming back to Victoria.
Hope he goes well for Centrals on the weekend.

Hopefully Che will add that bit of grunt to our forward lines that was missing last week. But I get the idea Choco made this decision more on the fact that Che did well against Essendon last year than anything else. If that were a reason for picking players, Collingwood would select Leon Davis whenever they play us. James was an obvious inclusion as was Cochrane an obvious, and overdue omission. But why is Guerra always the one picked on? Seems the answer to that is that he has never played a dominant game. But how do you when you rarely play more than 60 minutes?
I agree with Jars458, Guerra looks ready to follow Bode, ignored at Port and a star at the Crows.

FFS!
Goo and Poults are exactly what we'll need against Essendon. Both are hard at the ball, aren't afraid to put their bodies on the line and pressure the opposition.
The fact that Kingsley is still in is bad enough but having COCHRANE an emergency of Poulton is the ultimate insult.
What the hell is Choco thinking?!??!?!!!!??!?!?! :( :(

$##@, $##@ and double $##@.
Guerra was one of the few reasons the game started turning last week-end.
There is no doubt Che is a big game player and a welcome inclusion. Hard to forget how he was one of the very few (along with Wanganeen) that could hold his head up high after the Hawthorn final,
BUT
Guerra has shown enough in his "limited" times that if given an opportunity he could also be a big game player.
I am now of the opinion that if Stevens was to go Guerra might get more game time, and quite frankly I am not so sure that would be a bad thing.
I know they are different type of players, but so far Stevens has NOT shown that he is a "big game player", but almost quite the opposite.
Well knock me down with a feather. The one player we wanted included is not, and one we especially wanted retained is omitted.
I don't like it - at - all.

No Guerra & no Poulton makes Ray a very hacked off supporter! Pleased to see James & the Cocky back in but absolutely flummoxed as to how Adam Kingsley kept his spot.

I thought you were all used to Guerra being the first omitted.

We are, but it doesn't mean we like it. As I said to Jars458, I can see him leaving Port for lack of opportunity and being a star at the Cows, same as Bode.

If he didnt do enough then id love to know what the **** Adam Kingsley did to stay in the side? All i say of him last week was turning the ball over 3 times at crucial parts of the game.
When i saw on the news that Guerra was out and Poulton wasnt included I nearly spat out my dinner.
Not ****in happy at all. In fact im really quite annoyed at this. The one player that showed some guts in that second quarter last week and he gets dropped. The one person who would add so much to the toughness and desperation to our side and he isnt included.
Not impressed at all.

Its ironic that Choco doesn't seem to rate fierce desire as the #1 requirement to make the side.

We'd be more than happy to take Guerra of your hands. How he is not in your side is beyond me. Could come and play HBF for us and release Edwards to become a regualr midfielder;)
The more I think about this whole situation the more I seeth.
Fair enough Kingsley stays in, but **** something must be going down behind the scenes coz it just does not make any sense.

Maybe just having Poulton and Guerra knocking on the door is enough to send a rocket up Dew, Kinglsley, Monty, Junior, Wilbur, Hardwick, Cornes, Carr and the likes to be more physical.........the pressure will be on to keep their spots.
Maybe im just clutching at straws.

Guerra has been treated shabbily for years. He's the archetypal PAD player. I'm very disappointed.
I wish Being John Malkovich was actually Being Mark Williams, so we could actually learn what he sees in the likes of Bombscare, and not Poults. I have genuine concern for our match committee. Complacency central.

Disgusting about Guerra, he is a hard nut, our best tackler, booming kick and it the finals type player that we lack. I couldn't blame Guerra if he walked out the club come end of season. Personally If I was Brett, I'd tell them to get ****ed,
This is about the fifty millionth time he has been dropped when he hasn't deserved to be, he has shown he can play at the highest level, when he does he gets left on the bench, he is too quality of a player to be ignored and if he had the opportunities some of the other players had been given he'd be a shoe-in for the first 18. Something must be happening behind the scenes, it's similar to Dew in 2000 when he'd never get a go as well because of off-field favouritism. I think Choco's weakness is he has favourites, players like Wilson, Lade, Kingsley, Cocky and Cochrane, ( at least Lade is repaying us now) but over the past few years we have seen guns like Dew, Guerra, R James (earlier on), Bode etc have suffered. Last year I cringed when Mead was brought in before Thurstans for that first final against Collingwood, It ended up costed us. I just hope we don't make the same mistake again. Someone kidnap Adam kingsley this weekend so the the Guru can show what he's got.

Also very surprised from an outsiders view that Guerra got dropped after his game last week & Poulton didn't get a gig this week (as you know he will bleed for the club). These 2 guys surely would be considering moving to another club for more opportunities.

Cornsey was saying that apparantly he may lack the application to his football that some of the others do
This did seem to be grasping for excuesed though when someone rang up and gave well thoght out reasons why he should be in the side.
Kg and C just find it so difficult to criticise the match committees of either Club. Scared they won't come on for interviews probably.

fwiw
thought kingsley was ok, couldnt see why he would be dropped.
guerra not sure why you are making a big deal over him making way for CCC, would of thought CCC is the way to go as guerra has never really impressed me overly.
either way seems like you are going over board, these selections will not make or break this game, it is the state of mind of your players that will dictatate the result and how well essendon play also and whether you can put them under sufficient pressure to negate their scoring and throw off their style of play as oppossed to you guys continually being under pressure and unable to play your game.
as MM said today port really have to go back to basics and just focus on them and not worry about the result.
good luck.

I've got the shakes already. I can usually tell in the first ten minutes whether we'll win or lose a game, and last weekend I knew from eight minutes in we were going to lose. I cried for twenty minutes after the game and got lost in a sea of Swans supporters singing the song afterwards, which made the tears flow even more.
IF we lose, I'm coming home, disconnecting the doorbell, ringing the newspaper delivery lady and cancelling my order of papers, unplugging the phones, turning my mobile off, unplugging the tv, pulling the blinds down and sleeping until Grand Final day.

Going on how Choco evidently rates Guerra, you'd probably get away with Ben Nelson and a box of Saladas.

12 Sep 2003, 15:23
Considering he cost us a second round pick to begin with, and he's shown to be a pretty good one (in spite of the selectors), I'd seriously hope not.
Sounds like most of you guys have thrown in the towel already,
Granted dropping Guera is a bit of a shock & like others thought he was in your best players last week but bringing back James is a real plus & although i think Che is passed his best he will perform against his old side & coach,
Port in recent times do have a great record against the Bombers who with no Fletcher will struggle to negate Tredrea,
Essendon has to come up against a club that has been ridiculed all week & that should come out with all guns firing, i can see Port winning this one by at least 3-5 goals,

You wont get a first round pick for him though.
So you would want a player swap but what area of yours needs bolstering?

That's all true but the latest is that there may be doubts on both Paco and Tredders. Hopefully Cornes can play the kind of game he turned in against the Dons last year, but his 2003 form has been well below 2002.

Looking at the wishlists of a lot of Vic clubs, a tough young small defender is pretty high on all them, so I'd think we could get a better trade interstate than from the Crows.

Shutting down Lloyd & Hird should be prime concerns. I assume that Wakelin will get 1st crack at Lloyd, with Paxman moved quicker than last week if Lloyd gets out of control.
Last year Wanganeen played on Hird. However, with the poor form of S Burgoyne lately, is there any thought of giving him the challenge 1st up? Has the height & mobility. Just a question of footy smarts.
