The following is a list of players Hawthorn could do well to be without:

Harford - Too slow. And too expensive.
Holland - Slow. Can't get it together. Only one or two good games this year. And too expensive.
Elstone - Why did we draft him with pick 20? We have had good returns from all others selected in the same draft (Hodge, Ladson, Brown, Mitchell, S. Cox)
Graham - Old, dumb & week.
Stone - No good.
Hunter - An unbelievable dud. His problem is that he plays without a brain.
Hazell - Hasn't done much in his few years.
McCabe - Superseeded by others.
Tallis - Superseeded by others.
S Cox - Soft Cox. He can't mark the ball and he's a whimp.

Apologies to Picione and Johnson for not being included in the above list.

Harf uses the ball well, goes in hard and has a dip. He's also said that he would be willing to half his $ for an extra year on the contract. ie one year for $300k turns into $150k per year over the next two.

Pretty good value for a player with his ability.

i cant believe you still have Graham on that list, he took his dumping to Box Hill like a champion, fought his way back into the side and was one ofthe reasons for our better showing in the second half of the season ...

I havent always been a Mark Graham fan, but i say he deserves at least another year

Short memory about some of these players, ie Holland, Harford, Hazell - all talented, but creully cut down by injury. Selling them, Graham and Tallis a bit short there.

Agree on the others though...

No doubt some of those will depart but if all were to go thats 10 from a list of 39 = 29 less 3-4 youngsters from last years draft leaves 26 thats 22 plus emergencies - so after 4 injuries we are stuffed - no hope of a flag unless of course we trade for someone elses Harford, Graham or Cox.

Elstone, Hazell, Mccabe, Tallis and definitely Hunter could easily go. Maybe Cox as well, and Harford if a deal is done.
Holland and Graham you'd definitely want to keep. Be interesting to see what happens.

Surely not, the guy is a champion he holds our backline together and is 1 of the finest backman in the comp.
We should increase his salaray, what do people think??? Trade Rawlings and keep Graham :D

I'm in agreeance here...Simple fact is, Harford isn't playing enough senior games to warrant his $300K salary. When he does play, his performances are just average...do a deal with Harford, and keep Dutchy.

And as for the others....consider Elstone, Hazell, McCabe and Hunter...gone.

Where did the mail that Harford would halve his salary in return for a one year extension?

Yes, Holland is still serviceable, but, he may represent good currency in a trade.

Holland or Barker and a young midfielder for a Good young KPP (21-24)

Some team might just go for that

I'd like to see who holds up a tall opponent in the backline if Stone goes and a KPP back of ours goes down.

He may not be great but he's honest, and no depth means he gets another year.
