Incorrect.
Many regional leagues winding up their seasons around about now. Lots of decent clubs out there in decent leagues, many with ex-AFL players, or perhaps AFL players of the future!
No top-tier footy in Melbournethis weekend, yes.
No footy? No.

Lets hope some of our famous "Aussie Rules footy lovers" get out and support our great national game at a different level.
There is plenty of good football to be seen around the State starting with the VFL prelim Finals at Port meb and many local leagues finals as well.
I'm going to TEAC Oval to watch Williamstown and Port Melbourne on Sunday.
Go the Seagulls and die you Borough scum!!

We were hoping to down a couple of foaming frosties before we walk in, pazza, but definitely if we think of it we'll roll in before the reserves match is over and look out for you. What sort of umpy are yer again?

My brother plays for the Geleong Amateurs who take on Ocean Grove in the BFL Grand Final!
Better than all the finals games of the AFL so far! ;)

It'll be a fair ask for the Ammos.

Interesting that both 3AW and 3LO are covering the VFL finals this weekend.
Could be entertaining as they probably don't know who any of the non-AFL players are. Watch for a VFL listed player to have a good game and all of a sudden start getting talked about as a likely draftee by the commentary team.

Goals mate goals (look for the short bloke and not the old bloke at the other end).
Peninsula may walk away with one flag I guess..can't see them losing to Old Geelong;)

50/50 on the seniors, maybe 60/40 our favour. For all my talk, they'll be quite a hurdle.
Will definitely try to catch up with you. Are you hanging around at all afterwards?

Ammos are undefeated, and having beaten the Grove 3 times this season.
They are more than capable, and would have to be favourites considering they haven't been beaten all season, and no-one has really come close!

Well fair enough, I was just thinking about OG's GF record over the years ;)
Probably until half-time of the seniors..it's a 2 hr drive back to Hoppers Crossing from there, then out to Windy Hill tomorrow night, so will be in the crowd having lunch after the seconds

Yeah, that's what will work against the Ammos. Grove have all the experience and will test them all day.
But I have faith! :D

Tony Leonard and Mark Doran on 3AW or Dan Lonergan and co on the ABC...they are giving us quality aren't they :D At least Stereo 974 are doing the Sunday game, they are pretty good.
I'd say AW and ABC will spend the whole day saying how great Aaron Davey is, while for Box Hill I think Steve Kenna will be the hype player.

I take it, that is a hint that he'll need to umpire VERY well tomorrow then, eh, Mobbs? ;)

Unfortunately they're on the same afternoon (why isn't the granny on Saturday?), so I'll be at the Willy game.

Saw you from a distance, pazza, but from the length of the ground away, wouldn't identify you in a line-up.

How'd the Reds go?
I was getting a running commentary of the U19 red section grand final. Viewbank were behind to Uni Blacks all day and managed to tie the game at full time and won by a goal after extra time. Apparantly a huge fluke of a win.

Never a problem with a Uni Blacks loss, for mine :)
Yep the Reds got up for a 3 goal win, ooh ahh premiers.
I should probably let this thread go through to the regional board now, eh?

How did your game go Pazza?
Congrats bud.
Thanks Suzi.
Well that ****ing wind out there. First half was alright as it was behind me (so was the sun;) )
Second half though, well the hat (and me) nearly ended up in Dandenong it was so strong:p
Caught up with Peninsula pres Peter Mitchell as well (the newsreader guy). He's not a bad kick of the footy either!
Awesome effort by the Reds there Mobbs. Kicking a lot of goals into the wind made your side's job easier of winning. Might catch up say at a Reds match in D1 next year (possible rotation!)

Sounds a great idea! Yep the wind was howling ... and it brought a bit of dust too at some stages. Did you hang around long? I was standing behind the goals up the northern end. Most Reds folks were standing in the pocket but I was right behind the goals.
Left a minute after the half-time siren.
Sat behind Graham Burgin in the stand during the first quarter.
Did the canteen run out of more food? That was unbelievable!!!
Got as far around as the pocket in the end (was parked behind that little covered standing room thing there - excellent spot!).
Aaah well..as they say in the classics...**** on live long and enjoy it!

We'll see if we can make a date for next year.
Done.
