View Full Version : Trade Joel Smith
Not only is Joel the luckiest All Asutralian in History it may have provided the Hawks with the best trade bate ever.
What do you all think about trading Smith?
Could we get an early pick and a tall/running backman/wingman?
??

Why don't we just let Joel Smith go without asking for anyone. Obviously because a few people think he is lucky to get into the AA team he doesn't deserve to be considered a great player and he is obviously not needed at Hawthorn.
What a joke, why would we trade him?

You wouldn't descibe him as a running back man?????
Have you watched any Hawthorn games this year?
I'm sorry, 'No Deal'.
Smith has been pretty consistant all year.
All depends on what you get for him, never say never!
Useless to trade Smith but keep Barker, Holland, Harford, Tallis.
Plenty should go before him.
What if Carlton offered to take Harford, Brett Johnson and Smith (good mates with Lappin) for Camporeale and Beaumont?
At least they can afford to pay Harford.

 Get yourself a tape of the Bulldogs game and you will see the best running back-man's game of the year.
While your at it, get yourself a clue...

No way.
Smith is so important to our side it's not funny. If he weren't there to play on much larger opponents this year...well...lets just say we'd have seen Hunter or Stone on Tarrant, Richo and Tredrea.....*shudders*
Smith plays his best footy as a rebounding medium sized defender, but can also play FB, CHB and on the ball. You can't trade away a player of his versatility. One of the most underated footballers going around, as evidenced by the reaction to his selection in the AA. I tip he will come 2nd to Crawf in the B&F this year.
Untouchable.

Clangers are not a good indication, playing down back Joel gets a lot of his touches in pressure situations. He had 67 clangers for the year just ahead of Crawf and Vanders who both had 56 each.
Joel also had 50 rebounds second only to Crawf's 60 and for a bloke you say is not a running backman he has had the 5th best inside 50's in our side, coming behind midfielders - Crawf, Vanders, Lekkas, Mitchell.
Joel deserves both his AA spots and is one of the most valuable players on our list. Sounds to me like you haven't actually watched him play. The stats don't tell the full story.
