GWS had to wear their clash guernsey this weekend, that's what it looks like incase any of you didn't see. I'm pretty confident that next year's clash will be marginally different, but this gives us an idea of what they're aiming for.

So, exactly the same as Carlton's?
It doesn't even have any orange or charcoal, shit jumper...

Yeah that's pretty disappointing...
Not a fan of that design at all.
I don't really like it to be honest, they won't clash with many teams in the AFL next year but I would prefer them to go with a Charcoal G, Orange bottom half and white top half style guernsey

Depending on the lighting, it's either pale blue or silver. I'm hoping it's silver.
I still have no idea why GWS picked Orange as their main colour. Their main local rival wears Red and White so it doesn't make any sense that they would pick a colour that would clash with the Swans.

I thought it looked like Carlton's too.

Pretty sure it's gray/silver. Same as those gray shorts you wear sometimes.
Pretty boring jumper though. I really like the main orange and charcoal one (though it reminds me of BHP billiton).

Nah, it's very pale sky blue.

It'd be like if the second Queensland team also wore yellow, blue, and a shade of red.
...oh wait.
There's really no clash between orange/charcoal and red/white.
And that's an exceedingly dull clash guernsey. But then I don't see any of these inaugural guernseys (for GWS or GC) lasting long anyway.

Yeah, not a fan of that either. :D
AFL's clash system varies stupidly from year to year. The Lions had a couple of years where we didn't clash with some teams and we do now, and vice versa. They apparently have no set system and no balls to make those teams who have a hissy fit about clash jumpers actually do something about it, so to be honest the whole system is one big cluster****.

It'd be lovely if they'd work on a basis of common sense, which is a big ask I know.
For instance, there's no clash between brown/yellow and black/teal. I find it ludicrous that the Hawks had to wear some idiotic looking-thing against Port. I guess it's all a marketing thing. But then I can't see kids lining up for most of these clash and/or away guernseys. They suck hard. Especially since a lot of them (like this one) introduce colours that aren't the club colours.
I don't see why, for instance, GWS would need anything beyond the two guernseys that were coughed up at their big launch. Perhaps the GC home guenseys might clash with the predominantly orange GWS strip, but apart from that, they should be fine in the land of common sense.
The way it's supposed to work is every club has a light and a dark guernsey. Everyone's normal home strip will fall into one of these categories. Then when when two lights or two darks play, the away team will wear their alternate strip.
This works if applied fairly across the league. Unfortunately the league caved to Collingwood and Essendon being sooks about the system, so now we have sporadic colour based clashes which vary from year to year, i.e. the Lions clashing or not clashing depending on whether the AFL figures us to be red-based or dark.
We even have the ridiculous scenario where Collingwood and Geelong play each other in their home jumpers with "no clash" despite them being indistinguishable at a distance.

LOL @ the last few. I can understand some sites not liking off-site linking but given part of the point of GWS is publicity, I would have thought they'd be kinder about it.

I find it uninspiring.. The strips with the Orange are bold, fresh and original, without the orange it's just dull..
I didn't mind it in that it was distinct but it does lack any kind of character. Maybe if the incorporated orange side panelling or a bit of orange somewhere.

So why'd we have to go clash against Eastlake ( a team that has the same jumper as Essendon). I can't for the life of me see no clash. Were we justing trying something new or was there actually a clash of some kinds

Should be an all orange away strip without the G, chuck some black trim on like the GCS home guernsey and you're on a winner. Plain socks too.
looks pretty good, made a light grey jumper instead of the same old white clash jumpers.

I was there, and it was definately silver with a charcoal G, not blue like some people have been saying. Also, that was a rushed clash, trying to get something together quickly for this season. ISC and the marketing people are in the process of putting one together for next season

The basis for the blue is to signpost that the club is from New South Wales, so it's the state colour basically. But as has been pointed out already, it's not going to get a lot of wear next season.
As opposed to Carlton's change strip for this season, which is a direct lift of the main uniform of Sturt in the SANFL.

Shite attitude/ shite spell check.
:D
I do live in Sydney and my heart will always lie at Kardinia Park, but the two expansion clubs are critical to the long term success of the entire AFL. GWS especially is going to ultimately establish our game - let me repeat that: our game - as totally dominant in the very competitive football marketplace, and it is in all of our best interests for this club to succeed.
So my family will be supporting this club financially (as well as the Cats), and plan to be attending all home games next season. And my hooped jumper will only be coming out when the boys from The Pivot come to the showgrounds.
These are exciting times!

^^ good post ooze.
but GWS is making a huge mess of this uniform business.
Multiple designs, different colours, and we havent even seen the ACT strip yet. This whole issue should have been put to bed 6 months ago.
You would think a simple bold uniform design would help build awareness in the Sydney market, and help with membership, sponsors etc.
excuse my crappy photoshopping - but a simple inversion of the orange jumper would create an obvious away strip, and retain the clubs identity.

Sorry, but how do you maintain a clubs identity when they're all of 4 months old?
Like the jumpers by the way. I was rapt when they chose Orange. Always loved the colour so GWS will naturally be my second team.
Supporting the oldest and youngest teams in the AFL :thumbsu:
Would buy a jumper but for the fact that I don't even have a Dees one atm and Melbourne will always be my club first and foremost

I disagree. This is a relatively rare opportunity for a high-profile club to do its brand development "out in the open" and hopefully get some public feedback/support along the way. This is, to my mind, a much better outcome than having the jumper defined by the marketing team and a few limited focus groups. That's how Gold Coast got its lame home jumper, and indeed how GWS got its rather lame logo.
The reality is that the club isn't going to go nuts with its promotion until at least after the end of both the AFL and NRL seasons this year. So long as they can present a solid image/branding proposition at that time, I think they'll be fine.
(and judging by the Make Your Mark finalists, the ACT jumper is odds-on to be a simple derivative of the current home jumper)

Totally agree I am in Brisbane and i attend all GCS games this year so far and plan to see the rest (local footy permitting) I just think that once these sides are built and are successful then the AFL will jsut get stronger and better. And i am sure in 5-10 years time we will mroe then likely have a 22 team comp. Potential expansion to NT, Tassie, Second WA side talked about the likes of NQ with Cairns or Townsville. I knwo Cairns is putting in at the moment to have a team join the NEAFL Northern Conf. so exciting times ahead for the AFL and for its supporters.

:thumbsu:
The Suns cheap, tacky GC on the front in that plastic crap shits me to tears when I see it. Why couldn't they have just widened the yellow sides and stuck with the plain red middle?
I hope the Giants at least have the decency to print the G in real fabric, not iron it on like GCS.
Doubt they'll stick anyway, only Carlton actually have a monogram on their top. Every club has a plain design with thier macot on the logo in some way otherwise bar Brisbane and the Lion but that's obviously because of the merger (or it used to be) and is now just iconic paddlepop.

Poor, uneducated post.
I can tell you now (I own 7 guernseys, 2 match worn, 3 for personal use, one framed and one inaugural boxed jumper) that none of the guernseys feature an iron on logo.
I've loved the boldness and vibrancy of our jumper since day 1, and have faith in the Suns when they say it's a relentless design that will not change.

Grey is death to any team. Silver is grey with a bit of rain or sweat.
Very disappointed with the above colourless offering. I'm either downcast about it or overcast. Sign of raining on parades? :thumbsd:

And orange are the club colours + charcoal. Stick to them with splashes of white shorts,
I watched the team play against Brisbane Lions. GWS wore the white G and white shorts and their was no clash at all. The orange G and charcoal shorts will work well against the Swans for any H/A matches (and against any 'reddish' coloured teams) SO WHERE the hell is the CLASH ???

Firstly, I can't see your jumper clashing with anyone's in the AFL in the first place.
Secondly, I really don't like that clash in the OP. I think it would look much better if you just invert your home jumper (i.e. charcoal on top, orange on bottom). Would solve the problem I would say.
