View Full Version : Wynnum Vikings win premiership
The Wynnum Vikings won the aflqld 2nd division premiership last week, the vikings first senior premiership in 29 years. I was lucky enough to be one of the senior players on the day. What a game , what a celebration. If anyone thinks the older you get the less a premiership means is kidding themselves. Now we are looking forward to footy trip in Cairns. Oh what a trip it will be.

Congrats mate.
I was in probably the opposite premiership-winning scenario last year, playing at Springwood. My first season out of junior footy, played in the reserves premiership side, then watched the senior side win the clubs first senior flag in twenty years. Fantastic.
I take it you guys are going up to Div 1 this year then?
We may go up to division 1, we will lose some players this year, hopefully we may gain a couple more key position players, that would be important for us to be successful in division 1.

Yeah, we went up and lost a heap of players too. I suppose the main problem you guys will have will be the youth coming through.. there's not a great junior system down at Wynnum, is there?
At least with us this year, we had the 18s (and in some cases 16s!) to fill in the gaps so to speak.
