Pride. Passion. Confidence. Detremination. Guts. We showed all of them tonight and we won because of it.
A great effort by the boys tonight. A coupe of Beauty and the Beast storys as well. Cochrane destroyed Hird. Wakelin killed Lloyd. The Burgoynes were good. Dewy was good. Monty was good.
I liked the way we never let Essendon get on top of us. We always put our body on the line and it paid off. Much better than last week. Cant wait till next week. Bring on Collingwood.
Player Reviews:
Wakelin - Totally shut out Lloyd. Lloyd only had a couple of touches and the 1 goal. Much better.
Monty - Did some nice things. Generally played alright.
Wanganeen - fantastic game after being hit by the Fat one. Did everything tonight.
Lade - Played very well in the ruck.
Schofield - A little quiet. Isnt running as much.
P Burgoyne - Kicked a 1st quarter goal. Played well.
S Burgoyne - I thought he played very well, mainly up the ground.
Carr - Did the hard stuff well tonight. One of our best.
Hardwick - BOG for mine. His best game for the club.
CCC - Played well. Proved his selection i thought.
Paxman - Great game in defence.
Pickett - Better than last week, nice goal, but still could do more.
Tredrea - Fantastic effort. 3 goals, setup another couple. Worked hard all night.
Dew - 2 first half goals. Done well.
K Cornes - spent a lot of time on the bench.
Bishop - Played alright.
Brogan - Did ok in the ruck, not much around the ground.
Wilson - kicked a great goal and kept Stupido totally out of the match.
Cochrane - What a turn around!! nuff said. Killed Hird.
Kingsley - Even the dud did a couple of nice things tonight.
C Cornes - Our only real poor performer tonight. Didnt look at all interested.
Stevens - Wasnt impressed by his game either. Pulled out, again, a couple of times.
Any injuries us pies supporters should know about?
But well done tonight. Looking forward to a great game next week.

I think Macca's first line says it all really. Why couldn't we have played like that last week?
Tonight was one of those cases of 'all played well' but some blokes deserve special mention for really turning it around.
Step forward:
Stuart Cochrane
Peter Burgoyne
Shaun Burgoyne
Adam Kingsley
Brett Montgomery
Daryl Wakelin
Well done to those lads for really improving their performance.
Great performances IMO tonight from Hardwick (best game for PAFC by far), Tredrea (he didn't look well at all, herculean effort!), Wanganeen (proof reincarnation exists!), Lade, Paxman, Wilson & Carr.
Really looking forward to next week, we owe Collingwood for last season. If we play to our potential & play with pride, passion, confidence, determination and guts then we will be in with a show.
GO POWER!:)
Lade gave a nearly perfect performance of wet-weather ruckwork tonight. If the weather holds(or rather, doesn't hold) we have a huge advantage over the other teams both with his and Hardwicks' play. The fact that Essendon were totally unable to get on balance tonight gave us the win.

To win next week we need to play as well as we did this week, and lift some more. I really hope that the players realise this.

I'm a pie supporter, but I can tell you that Hardwick went off with a groin in the last quarter. I don't know how serious it was, so I don't know if he'll play next week or not.

haha, he always shows up to trianing half dead. Its all good, someone sits on his head and he limps, once he see's the ball there is no limp!

That pre game biff was the best thing that could have happened to us. Got our minds on the job.
Hopefully we will see another one next week.
Best players for mine were
Hardwick
Tredrea
Wanganeen
Carr
Wilson
Many others lifted and what a job by Cochrane on Hird.
Wakelin did very well and the other backs filled in the gaps so that Lloyd had no space as well.
Out of that lot, Hardwick and Carr were joint BOG as they set the match up for us.

I'm very proud of the boys after last night. We showed that we aint going to be taken as a joke and really played some tough hard footy! Well done to the players who stood up. Bring on next week
Btw, bloody hell how much did we want to dominate in the ruck. Shows where Essendon are really lacking.

Brilliant! Really made me proud to be a Port supporter after watching the guys play with such passion and commitment.
Cochrane.. I apologise, I was wrong about you! Happy to be proven wrong though.. keep up the good work son! ;) :D
I think a lot of guys redeemed themselves last night.. in particular Dewy, the Burgoyne bros. and Wakelin. The improvement across the board though is what impressed me most. Great to see some hardness at the ball and at the opposition.
Hardwick.. definitely his best game for the club thus far.. hopefully he will go into the game next week with the same bravado.
Tredders, what a champ! To crawl out of bed after having the wog all week and to perform like he did.. he really is an absolute super star.
There's really not much else to be said. Very happy and *quietly* confidant for the game against the Pies. It's definitely no sure thing, but if the boys go in as hard as they did last night, we're a real chance.
Go Power!!!!
Couple of bad points:
Monty & Schoey are not playing well at the moment, Dew is well below his best, Stevens needs to get back to his early season form and JT, for christ sake do SOMETHING!!! I'd like to see more from Kane Cornes as well.
Good points from the game:
Lade (again). Tredders out of bed and still played brilliantly. Dimma's form slowly coming to the boil along with Wilbur. Cochrane & Wakes turning it around. Che proved he is in our best 22. The Pax, even though his face is melting he is still a big time contributor.
Greatest player in the game:
SUPER GAV, how good is he?
Sorry to come in late, as I often seem to do.
A great effort to come back after last week, by the players and coaches. Well done Choco - seemed very much on the front foot and proactive. Do the same and we will be a serious chance next week.
What will life after Gav be like?
Lade has really stepped up so that he is the one assured of a game (provided he escapes suspension).
Tredrea great, and many others.
Would like to see Stevens and Schofield lift, though improvement is noted. Buckley will run all day. That's what Nick is good at, so do it.
And we can win this week - I'm confident, though it won't be easy.
