View Full Version : Who is heading over to Melbourne?
I just visited the Great Southern Railway site and found that the overland service leaves friday morning not friday evening. Hopefully they will put on an extra service on Friday night.
Flying visit. In and out on Saturday, will be back a week later.

They usually only have trains running during the day to Melbourne and trains back to Adelaide at night. Don't know if they would change it for this.
I'm getting the bus probably Friday during the day or Thursday night so I don't fall asleep during the game! Can't wait it should be a fantastic game!!
Now........how do we get tickets?? I didn't see anything in the paper about it but I may be wrong!

Yours truly and sog35 should be in and out on the Saturday.
You should keep with tradition and save your money to come over for the grand final.

Members will get first priority, and they'll be sold through the club. If there are any left then it'll be thrown open for general sale, I assume through the usual outlets.

Already paid for my flights over for GF week, tickets are ready to go. Luckily the money isn't an issue for me but many will have to choose. Lucky for Collingwood's poverty crew that the pies never travel so they can save up all year to pay the 8 or so dollars it will cost them to go.

You are lucky that you get to go. We don't get to go to the grand final, they don't let us in, something to do with making the crowd 'look pretty' for the international audience.
I have my train ticket but I have to get to Keswick at 8.30. Arranged a cheersquad ticket.

My Collingwood membership cost me $655 and last year my GF ticket cost $80. There are many thousands like me. We pay our money alright.

Maybe a shave and a quick trip to the hair stylist & dentist and they'd let you mob in :p

I won't tell you how much my GF ticket cost last year, but rest assured it was more than your membership & Gf ticket combined. Luckily i also have the honour of paying $370 (ticket) + $104 (membership) + $60 (anchor) + $140 for this years package. Oh and $40, $50 & $75 for the three "other finals". Unfortunately i can't just waltz into any other game for next to nothing, even though my team isn't playing.
A fair & level playing field that's all we ask.

But thats the same for anyone who doesn't have a membership for teams playing. I only have an option to buy a ticket if my team is playing.
If it was an Essendon V Port GF, I would have to pay $1000 for a ticket. But then why would I, because its not my team playing so I wouldn't bother.
This year if its an all interstate GF, the open market on tickets will be considerably cheaper.
BTW all up this year I paid $1300 for memberships plus finals tickets as I also bought a membership for a family member.
You seem to assume that nobody in Melbourne pays $$$ I can assure you we do, so I am on an even playing field with you.

AFL members can pretty much get a ticket no matter who is playing in the GF, sure there is a chance they will miss out.
Good to some do pay their way though and nice of you to join someone else up to "the army".. But again you dont want to know how much of my "hard earned" (i use the term loosely;) ) goes towards the PAFC.

So you can go to BASS and buy them?? I will try that this afternoon, failing that, go to the club and failing that ring Ticketmaster.
I'm heading over by bus Thursday night, you get a discount if you tell them (Firefly) that you're going for the footy. :) So it will only be about $40 each way.

Thanks for that. Everything is all arranged. Will see you Friday night. I think I have been the most intolerable person at work today:eek: :D
I was up at Ian Wilsons' today and he was writing away feverishly taking bookings for tickets and bus rides. There are 4 from Alberton and there were 3 seats left at 1.30. McCafferty's and Firefly are putting on extra buses but the cheersquad reccommends Firefly as it is $80. The overland have also scheduled a late night Friday train. Generally, the overland leaves at 8.30am to go to Victoria.

Booked it on the net. Bottom of the Olympic stand, front row, sounds good! Now to organise the bus...
