pick 20 + Wheatley for Jacobs.

DJ was bloody awful last night, but I would still love him at Melbourne.

Blues might be interested in Henneman but his trade value is pretty low. he makes trent Hotton look like an All Australian

TheMightyDons

I would take the Geelong offer if Jacobs can't be used to get Brown from the Dogs.

Wheatley and pick 20 ---> No Thanks.

chilliboy, what could melbourne possibly offer that would get Essendon interested?

bozza
14th September 2003, 18:34
DANNY JACOBS

If Geelong want DJ give us pick 6, not pick 22 & a slow midfielder.

If Melbourne want DJ, give us Pick 5 & Scott Thompson, we will give you Henneman as well.

If Port Adelaide want DJ, take a 3rd round pick as well, give us Nick Stevens.

I don't want either of them. Henneman's a hack and Jacobs would cost 3 times more than he's worth.

Essendon players who interest me are Mark Johnson, Jason Johnson, Cupido, Rioli and Harvey. Harvey would be a good get and would come fairly cheaply.

I'm interested in Jacobs, but asking for a top 5 pick AND Scott Thompson (future captain) is just ridiculous.

Mark Jamar or Jeff White in a straight swap?

Broadbridge_20
14th September 2003, 23:57
Hypothetical, what would Bombers fans think of this.

Mark Johnson, Jason Johnson, Damian Cupido, Damian Peverill and Shane Harvey

for

Pick #5, Jeff White, Brad Green, Russell Robertson and James McDonald.

Would you do it?

No. I don't support Essendon but my respect for the Essendon players you listed is far superior tothat of the Melbourne players you listed. Essendon would be crazy to do that trade.

No. Jamar is too slow, besides we have enough emerging ruckmen. Jacobs should not be tradeable. Bolton and Henneman should be shown the door well before him.

He is dominating at VFL level every week, and still can't get a game.

He will want to leave eventually, unless we get rid of White at the end of the year.

White will be going before Jamar does.

He's coming along quite nicely. Big bodied, physical and has good hands. Looks a little slow but that can be worked on.

we won't know that until Laycock makes his debut, but he certainly is an exciting CHF prospect, i would have said some of the other trades this year were ripoffs - but they all paid off so i have no reason to doubt the recruiting staff.

I did throw Aaron Henneman in as a sweetener. Jacobs is probably worth pick 5, whilst Thompson & Henneman are of the same age, both fringe players. If Thompson was a future captain, why the **** can't he get a game then?

Thompson has had a lot of injury problems, but these days are now behind him. He is starting to show why he was a first round draft pick, and there is no way I would even consider trading him let alone for a player like Henneman.

Yeah, he's capable. But pick 5? Please.

Funnily enough, he's probably just what the Dogs need and pick 19 would be about the best offer you'd get for him.

He also said recently he doesn't like being second choice full back behind Fletcher.

Is a definate to be shopped around.

And how many senior games did Laycock play? I would not swap Smith for him at this stage. In 5 years maybe.

Heffernan was a shining light for us this season. He earned every cent.

That will be the defining thing in 5 years to judge this deal.

We did not miss heff this year. But he did some good things for you guys no doubt.

I saw laycock kick 5 goals in a game the vfl this year and he is so agile and athletic for someone 6"6.

Nick smith is a key position player. Laycock will be a forward cum ruckman. Both teams got what they needed. Laycock would not have been around at pick 15 and essendon were really keen to get him. I think both teams will win outa this deal

I agree with you. I would rather go with Street for a Mcgrath or Henneman instead of giving up Jacobs for White. Some people seem to underestimate Jacobs importance to us. Sure he had a shocker for us the other night but he is a consistent player for us generally and you gotta love his marking. Will only get better too remember. Whereas I dont think there will be any more improvement in a Mcgrath.
