Hi Footy Fans...
Finals fever has hit the South Australian footy public and the SANFL who adopted a final four system this year instead of a final five, will see one game a week in the Finals Series. The first casualty has been eliminated from premiership contention this past weekend and of all teams it was the reigning premier Sturt, so now here is this weeks SANFL wrap up.
AAMI Stadium was the destination for Eagles and Double Blues supporters last weekend for the 1st Semi-Final Elimination match. The Eagles took immediate control through Lindsay in the ruck and buried the Blues early with an 8.5 to 2.3 first half.
The Blues emerged from their slumber in the third quarter with a 5.1 to 2.6 scoreline to come within 25 points of the opposition. But that was as close as they got... the Eagles wouldn't have any of it, despite an ordinary last quarter of which they scored seven behinds to Sturt's 1.1. Any attack made by the Blues was quickly rebuffed by the Eagles.
In the end the Double Blues bowed out of the race to the margin of 25 points.
Sunday September 14--Elimination match
Woodville-West Torrens 10.18 (78)
Sturt 8.5 (53)
Crowd: 6,212 at AAMI Stadium
The Eagles will move into the Preliminary Final at Adelaide Oval in two weeks where they will play the loser of the Second Semi-Final Qualifying match. Which means next week...
Sunday September 21
Second Semi-Final--Qualifying match
Central District v. West Adelaide; AAMI Stadium
So until next weekend... see you at the Footy!
