Heard on the radio that Brett did his shoulder yesterday in the Port reserves.

Anyone know anything more about it?

In unrelated news Poulton was bog according to the wonderful rag we know as the tiser.

If I had been able to get down to training today [*glares pointedly at Lisa*] then I'd know a bit more. But Berni saw him and apparently he cant even drive with it, Sala was driving within the first couple of days after he did his so it must be pretty bad. I'd call, but he probably isnt even able to pick up his phone. So I -should- know more on Wednesday if I see him, or I'll call later on this week. I'll keep you updated.

Bugger. Bad year for draftees' shoulders - Gilham should think himself lucky that his season is over.

Seeing he plays with North, did he even have a season to begin with?

I saw Ebert coming off in the middle of the last quarter of yesterdays Ressies game.

He was clutching his shoulder and looked to be in a fair amount of pain.

That will make it all the more uncomfortable when he has the Magerey hanging round his neck. If he even makes it...

Poor guy :(

Massive future - and he's got a good few months to get over it at least.

what's the recovery time for a shoulder re-con?? I know it tends to take roughly 9-12 months for a knee is it similar for a shoulder??
It would be a pity if both Sala and Ebert are not ready for pre-season.:(

Nah, it's more like 12-14 weeks, so Ebert will be back on the training track around Christmas time I would suggest.

A thought out of left field here. With Ebert obviously already a cut above SANFL level, Salopek making an impression in his first season (would have finished with about 12 games if not injured) and both only to have bodies stronger/harder (the main missing components of both atm), would Port be smart to try and trade Schofield at the end of this year ?

One of the two above (not forgetting a player called Josh Francou) could do worse then take his place. He's the most expendable of the older midfielders in my opinion and whilst he's (last couple of weeks aside) still doing a good job, we don't really want all our older midfielders (Josh, Roger, Schofield) all retiring together. I'd suggest it's the last year he'd have any real trade value before being considered too old.

Thoughts?

Nope, Schofield although being down in the last couple has been great all season. He hasn't looked like losing his speed or talent at all. He will be vital if we do lose Stevens

The "everyone is tradeable" culture seems to be one we want to keep well away from. It puts everyone on edge and can make you think that by playing well all you're doing is driving up your trade value. There should be a reward for good play and that reward should be staying with the same team. With the salary cap we may find ourselves doing an Essendon soon, but at least we don't have players in long, expensive contracts.

I certainly wouldn't trade Schofield especially when it appears that Stevens may be asking for a trade.

Schoey, like Monty are players who we sometimes underestimate their value. Schoey is our best player at hitting a traget inside 50, i wouldn't trade him, not at this stage, especially if Stevens goes.
