The Royals from the Great Southern Football League (WA) have won a fifth straight Grand final.....is that a record? In WA it would go close to it. The Royals have now won 30 Premierships in 60 years. Just wanted to know if any clubs around Victoria/South Australia/Tassie can boast that kind of record.

Hasn't Port Adelaide won 33, albeit in a longer time frame ???

Eastern suburbs won 7 1953-1959.
Norwood won 6 1878-1883.
Port Adelaide won 6 1954-1959.
Ainslie won 6 1992-1997.
Newtown won 6 1945-1950.
Launceston won 6 1933-1938.
Fremantle won 5 1892-1896.
East Perth won 5 1918-1923.
Eastlake won 5 1962-1966.
North Launceston won 5 1946-1950.
East Sydney won 5 1980-1984.
St.Marys won 5 1983/84-1987/88.
Sturt won 5 1966-1970.
Windsor won 5 1936-1940.

These are a few I know. Mobben, you might have a few country leagues around the place that would beat these.

What made Ports achievement even better between 54-59 is that their reserves won 5 in a row during the same period.
Must of had some depth.

ill have a look through the riverland lists - but I think there are a few contenders.
In recent times loxton North (damn them) won four in a row 1997-2000.

Mobb: do you want a list of the Riverland premiers and medal winners? I can fax you one easily enough.

Thanks DW but got the premiers and don't collect the medal-winners.

Just been collating consec premiers and have done most of Vic and SA, with a couple of others thrown in received from other folks.

I have been looking into some records and found that 5 in a row is not that rare.....Gascoyne Football Association Ramblers have won 32 since 1948 including 7 in a row 1987 - 1994.

Mobben - "1988-1992" is five flags not 4

Secondly, do you have full premiership lists for each of the regional Qld Leagues?

Windsor was the pre-cursor to Windsor-Zillmere - so yes, QAFL (although it may have been QANFL at that stage) Either way, this is in our premier league.

And will confirm for you tonight, but Aspley won 6(?) - until Strathpine spoilt them - and Sherwood 9(?) - until they joined the QAFL in 1983 - both in Div.1 SQAFA. Will get years from my records at home. I think Southport had a run of 7 or 8 in the Gold Coast league too

BITS have won the last 4 premierships in AFL Capricornia. They beat Gladstone in 2000,2002, I think it was Yeppoon in 2001 and definitely Glenmore in 2003.

Mobbs, Old Xav's won 6 in a row from 1995-96-97-98-99-2000.

Not sure if it's enough, but Ormond won 4 in a row 1987-88-89-90 which was a VAFA record but now surpassed by Old Xav's.

Must of had some depth.

I remember when Abernethy was hosting that Port Power unveiling in late '96, talking about the 6 in a row, stating that no team has or will come close to beating it. Ahem.
