Gee whiz, I didn't even know there was an AFLCA until 45 seconds ago. How do you win their award - be a great player who doesn't give any lip?
Seriously, congratulations Juddy.
Voted by opposition coaches in a 5 4 3 2 1 system. Can't vote for your own players. Buckley won the AFLCA player of the year.
Congratulations Juddy! Well deserved.
What is classified as a young player?.
Is 21 a young player?.
Anyway congratulations to the winner.
Not sure on the age requirement, but it has to be someone playing for 3 years or less...

No age limit, just 3 years or less in the system, and the award is based on their last 2 years performance (or 3 in the case of someone like Reiwoldt who had an injury riddled year)
Well done to him - even tho i didnt know this award existed

well done to Juddy - good reward for a great talent. No doubt he will continue to haunt coaches over the next decade or more - hopefully each one of those years in Eagle colours.

Was it ?
I always thought Kerrs award was voted on by the coaches.
Yeh Kerr won the AFLPA award for best rookie but he was robbed in the rising star award. He deserved it ahead of Kosckitzke.

Agreed!
As does Judd ahead of Reinwaldt
As does Sampi ahead of Mitchell....note that 30+ goals and 14 possesions per game has more impact then anything that Mitchell did....
He is also the only first year player this year that had a whole CHF line structured for him...see Sydney game....

Koschitzke winning over Kerr was a joke. I reckon Riewoldt is a sensational player, but he made his debut in 2001 so although he is the Best Rising Star, he shouldn't have been judged in any '1st year players award'
