Yep, had 1 vote at about round 9 and came home like a train.

Salopek got about 10 and Chris Hall 13 or so of the other guys.

Congratulations to Brett Ebert for carrying on the family tradition and winning the Magarey medal.

His dad was always my favourite Port player and a true champion. I must be getting soft, but I actually found myself hoping that Brett would win it, and felt quite emotional when he did.

Well done Brett and Russell.

Congratulations Brett.......Enjoy your last Magarey, Brownlow is next ;)
Im glad the last Port V Norwood game didn't come back to haunt him by robbing him of votes (Was taken to Vic with the Power). Its bad enough that game cost the Magpies their finals

EEEEBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOO!!!

He had a fantastic season despite the slow start to the year.

He polled votes in 10 of the last 13 games he played. His voting went like this:

R2 - 1 vote (20 disposals, 4 marks)
R9 - 3 votes (31 dispsoals, 10 marks, 1 goal)
R10 - 3 votes (29 disposals, 2 marks)
R12 - 3 votes (23 disposals, 7 marks, 2 goals)
R14 - 3 votes (35 disposals, 9 marks, 2 goals)
R16 - 1 vote (27 disposals, 10 marks)
R17 - 3 votes (19 disposals, 6 marks, 2 goals)
R19 - 2 votes (24 disposals, 10 marks, 4 goals)
R20 - 2 votes (20 disposals, 7 marks, 1 goal)
R21 - 1 vote (31 disposals, 3 marks)
R22 - 3 votes (41 disposals, 10 marks, 2 goals)

He suffered a slow start to the year where he often was played off the bench or in defence. I put this down to a bit of fatigue after his first AFL pre season and Stephen not wanting to burn the kid out too early.

He ended up being moved into the middle full time for the inspiring win against the Eagles in Round 9 and he never looked back. I rated him in our top 4 players in every single game he played after that. It was the most dominating 15 week period ive seen since Buckley was runnig around for the Maggies in 92.

He picked up 424 disposals for the year in 18 games (23.55 a game), 104 marks and kicked 16 goals.
He picked up 336 disposals in his last 12 games (28 a game).

The Power vote getters were:

Ebert - 25
Hall - 13
Salopek - 10
Guerra - 8
Koula - 7
Borlace - 5
Morgan - 3
Cassisi - 2
Ackland - 2
Poulton - 1

Pretty good efforts by Hall and Salopek (who only played about 8 or 9 games)

The medal was decided once 20 rounds had been read. Brett was 3 up on Ben Nelson of Sturt and was going to at least get 3 for the last game. And with only 3 games(1 bye) to go Nelson was not going to score enough to overtake Brett. Justin Cicolella actually moved into second at one point but he was never a threat as the Eagles had the bye in the last round.

FANTASTIC EFFORT!

Was very proud of him, and his dad..

Most emotional/interested I've felt watching the Magarey Medal for 10 years..

Congratulations EBO!!

Liked the story about Jim Deane's kids playing with his Magarey in the sandpit.

Congratulations Brett!!! Fantastic result. Still remember Russell winning his first one 32 years ago. Sent a shiver down my spine when Brett won - and good to see his dad was actually in the studio for when his son won the first one (not like when Russell won his first). The Eberts - quintuple Magarey Medal family.

And an honourable mention to Steve Salopek who barely played half a season and still polled well. A few more games and the Power might have quinellaed the Medal! Sign of things to come at a higher level I hope!

Great result, hopefully a sign of things to come.

His "speech" was "interesting" to say the least. Wonder how much Roger owes him for mentioning his name?

Congratulations to Ebo on his well deserved Magarey Medal win!

This is just the beginning for him I'm sure, look forward to him turning out for Port Adelaide next season.
