What would Essendon have to offer to get Stephen Milne back to Windy Hill?
Would the Saints take Henneman for Milne?
Wally Matera

No way. Milne's value has dropped off considerably and Sheedy cant stand the little pr*ck.
Hird once was quoted as saying that "he had never met a person with as little respect for others than Stephen Milne". He used to tell Sheeds to 'p*ss off, you're not my ol man'.
And Henneman... get real! Try a draft pick (3rd round) max!

Last season Milne kicked over 50 goals. I don't care how big a smartarse he is, he can play footy.
Henneman for Milne????? No thanks. Would prefer a draft pick or another player. Next offer????
Although I don't Milney is going anywhere.

Regardless of the way he plays or what his attitude Milne is going nowhere, on a chat a StKilda official said Milne is a required player at StKilda. By the way I have personaly met Steve Milne on a number of occasions and found him to be poilte, respectful, and above all fan and teammate interactive, I saw no evidance of the attitude described here.

Dont let facts get in the way of a good story tool.
It was an end of season trip (one of those bull*** games in London), Milne was 18 or 19 and all the players and the coaches were out after the game. Sheedy tried to stop Milne going out with some of the other players because of his age and Milne said "you are not my father".
All of the players and Sheedy laughed. A couple picked up Milne and threw him into an industrial waste bin.
And BTW Milne is going nowhere.

A fair trade would be Stephen Milne for Shane Harvey (that his name isnt it) and a 2nd rd pick.
Milne is the best small forward in the league.

May still be the best small forward in the league...only problem is that league is the VFL, not the AFL

Back to basketball Carmelo.
Phil Matera is the best. Honourable mentions to Brown, Medhurst, Cupido, S. Burgoyne etc who are all ahead of Milne.

Bendigo don't want Milne.
riccardo
17th September 2003, 21:48
Bendigo may not, but St ilda still do.
Had 24 goals from the first 11 games, fair effort, if you ask me.
His first year was a blinder, had a bit of an off season and was good only in patches after Round 11, but Milney is promising enough to keep around at Moorabbin for a while yet, mark my words.
We'll see what happens next year.

On what grounds are they better than Milne.
And dont give me this back to basketball crap, I know more footy than you based on the fact you put Shaun Burgoyne and Cupido ahead of him.
Milne is a star... the others arent.

Get your hand off it fellas, Dwyane Wade will be the best player from the draft.
I don't think any FPs are stars, per se, they tend to go missing big-time. I feel that they overrated for this reason, particularly the likes of Matera, Milne and even S. Burgoyne (who hasn't done bugger all after his stellar start).

Ben Cupido is that a joke Milne is better than him easy and Nathan Brown and Phil Matera are about 95 times better, Cupido is a goal hungry and only cares about himself .

Carmelo is going to have the whole offense to himself, plus hes a great rebounder.... 17/8 season should get him the award.

Milne for Jacobs + 2nd Rounder at the least.
That's loaded in our favour. Why? Because we have no reason to trade him.
Why would we think about trading a 50 goal forward who had an off season?
We'd need outrageous compensation.

Because forward pockets rarely last the distance. Name a bloke that kicked 35-50 goals in the forward pocket his whole career. Not too many of them. You've got to cash in on these guys when they have their breakout year (ie. Farmer) because they don't often back it up.

Here's a run down of Phil Matera's career. I can't think of any forward pocket, small forward (current players) who have performed as well as Matera.
Year Games Goals Behinds
1996 5 8 6
1997 19 30 23
1998 14 13 13
1999 24 51 20
2000 19 49 30
2001 16 31 22
2002 21 46 16
2003 19 62 27
Totals 137 290 157

One out of the box. Great effort.
Porny is right. Hardly any can sustain it. Usually they have a few tricks and traits to their game which they are excellent at, then they get worked out.
Medhurst, Harding, Cupido etc will have to move positions soon and become better footballers, or risk becoming stale and predictable like so many before them.
Milne was a mess for a large chunk of the year. He was worked out. He doesn't have many tricks, he doesn't have the nouse required to be an midfielder IMO and he is trouble.

agreed matera and brown are better and probably a couple of others. However none would have done better in their first full year of football including milne. Cupido has far more talent than Milne. I think you will find that any full time foward pocket is goal hungry and Cupido is no exception. Please remember that he is only 21 years old, still maturing as a person, still has 10 years of footy left at the club and i will GUARANTEE that Cupido will kick more goals than Milne next year.

i guess that explains him being on top of our goal assists table then?
btw, milne is worth jack schitt now, still wouldn't mind him though, for a low draft pick maybe.

Geelong have got a forward that's kicked 90 goals over the last two seasons. Actually the last season and a half if you look at games played. Yet all other clubs will only offer us is a 3rd round choice. Why would Milne be any different?

Milne's first FULL year of football resulted in 50 goals and representing Australia against Ireland, Cupido can't beat that.
