It seems that Hawthorn will announce the re-signing
(yes, that's re-signing, Tim Webster!!) of Angelo Lekkas some time
today.
Hopefully Jade Rawlings won't be too far away, either!!

1st Point
You little beauty!! Onya Lekkas!!! (Thank god)

2nd Point
The following have signed on to the Hawks...
Angelo Lekkas
Sam Mitchell
Mark Williams
Kris Barlow
Campbell Brown
Adrian Cox
Robbie Campbell
Ben Kane
Does this give us some sort of idea of who will get de-listed/traded??
I suppose you'd be looking at who's contracts are up that haven't been renewed...or who hasn't performed, but may be good trade bait to another club? Any ideas?

No Rawlings ... now no Lekkas ... who is next? What in hell is going on at Hawthorn?

Don't panic yet, seems Lekka and his manager are responding to some of the rumouring that gets passed around this site.

I'm sure Steve Leighton will be able to console him Lekka about losing Jade Rawlings and persuade him to stick with the Hawks.

Especially, if Dwayne Russell's info that the Hawks can't afford to pay any new star's is accurate.

Personally - Id rather keep Lekkas and forget about Nathan Brown.

If we chase Brown - at what cost will it be to the club - Rawlings has gone - we dont need any more disguntled players

Don't panic yet? It's been 12 years since we won a flag, and we haven't looked like it since. It seems the closer we move towards getting a good side, the further we move away from it.
I'm sick of finishing outside the 8, rebuilding, picking up losers from other clubs, and most of all ... losing required players.
We were told back in the 1990s that if we were patient, the club would deliver. In 2001 we played in the semi finals, and since then back into oblivion.
When will we ever be a serious threat for a flag again? Even GEELONG supporters are laughing at our club, and they are useless.

We might as well start brokering deals for Both Rawlings and Lekkas, there is no use trying to keep Lekka because reality is he wont stay.
If we can get say Brown and possibly a pick and Kent Kingsley or someone similur to that at Geelong i wont be to upset.

cheers

That was more than 2 weeks ago now - Hawthorn released on their
website...prematurely!!

I suspect this whole Rawlings/Brown thing has a 'Wallace to coach
Sydney' ring to it. I honestly suspect that Hawthorn had (has?) Brown
stitched up, but the back-lash via players and some vocal supporters
(due mainly to our closeness to the salary cap) has impacted severely on
what was to eventuate. I think the best thing for Hawthorn now, given
the sort of players we need, is to do the deal for Rawlings with the
Kangaroos (Jade gets to play with his brother), get Johnny Baird back
to play CHB/FB, and possibly get a trade pick in there as well, and look
at another young KPP we might be able to pinch from somewhere
(if we can) - time to keep our heads down now. We seemingly(?) have
diffused the Lekkas situation - let's just play Joe Cool.

couldn't agree more with you Ramma.

We need to get on with developing the likes of Lochlan Veale and Tim Boyle, both of which are over 190 and 80+ kgs. They may not play in 2004, but they are our future at present.

And if a player falls in our lap along the way good and well.
