High draft-pick and/or promising backman o.n.o. None of these ridiculous package deals.

Promising tall backman. Not midget back pocket, or `third tall' types. Will also look into genuine young midfielder from SA.

you cant have didak as he just signed another 3 year deal, and u cant trade a guy in his first year of new contract. wouldnt trade him anyway. i believe if its struck, it will involve 3 clubs.

Tristan Walker? Ben Kinnear?

You can't blame a girl for trying.:D

No Didak.

From my understanding, Didak could be traded back to us, but Collingwood would have to pay part of his salary. Although it seems pretty clear we dont want him.

no, the new player CBA does not take effect until November 1.
Trading period is about the third week of October. Hence you can trade a player that has just signed a contract this year.

However, the reality is if a player has just signed a contract then the club obviously wants him. Hard to see why they would turn around and want to offload him a little while later.

Nathan Eagleton signed a contract with Port in 1999 and was immediately traded to the Bulldogs. I think the same may have happened with Scott Cummings (traded to West Coast) although I am not 100% sure.

Nick Stevens will either remain at Port or go to Pies, simple as that.

If he wants to trade to Collingwood, expect Pies to give up either a second round draft pick, or one or two players.

you will need more then a second round pick to secure stevens and to say its a 2 horse race for his signature shows you have put very little thought into that comment.

Cos if he quits and enters the draft, you get nothing. If he's signed, then you have him by the balls.

You'd only not sign a player if you had intentions of delisting them anyway.

Pick # 5 and Chris Lamb?

High draft pick plus a tall back who is out of favour at Melbourne.

It's probably the best we can offer you really. I believe it would be pretty fair, and all you will get from Pie supporters is Kinnear.

I would be very reluctant to let go of picks 3 and 5, as I believe it would be in our best interests to keep both picks and develop them ourselves.

Given the last top 10 pick we made though.... ;)

Well the way I see it, we still have Pick 3 there, and we get the ready made midfielder that we need to inject into our side.

I think it's as much as the club would offer, but it's fair all the same!

Nick Stevens is the last player we need.

We do need a ready made midfielder though, but not another one who sits on the outside of packs waiting for the easy ball.

I would go after Nathan Brown before looking at Nick Stevens.

Brown has a suspect shoulder and is an outside player, Stevens is an inside player, but we normally don't see it because of Port's game plan, he is also 2 years younger than Brown

I don't want either of them but if given the choice I'd take Brown every time. He has more 'magic' than Nick Stevens and could probably be handy beside Nietz.

If you've read any of my other posts you'd know I want Simon Goodwin!

What a deal! Trade in our number one midfielder and most promising young tall defender for a broken down old hack and a late teens draft pick! Thats genius, Locks.

Yes, I too can see the irony of not playing a guy who has suffered OP for the second half of the season...

I'd be looking for one of Heath Black, Scotland, Spriggs or Corey McGrath. Maybe I'd want a 3rd round draft pick as well.

Nic

One of those and a 3rd pick? That doesn't sound like a lot!

I actually agree with Broadbridge_20 here.

We don't need Nick Stevens. He is a receiver, and we have plenty of those. Sure, I'd take him for free, but that isn't going to happen.

I'd much rather hang onto pick 5 and recruit Colin Sylvia/Kepler Bradley/Kane Tenace.

The rumour I heard was Didak and either Lokan or Kinnear plus a draft pick to Port and Scotland and Davis on the market to make room in the cap.

20 Sep 2003, 04:20
well collingwood have plenty spare in the cap. if leon goes it will be him and a draft pick for say jacobs. scottland and 5th round maybe for stevens. didak cant be traded as its the first year of his new contract, lokan wont go lol... morons.

Me thinks the #2 pick would be more than adequate.

If not, chuck in Scott Freeborn as well./

We'd happily give up McGrath + 3rd round.....where do we sign?

Why the **** would Collingwood trade Lokan. Honestly. Whoever pulled that out of their backside needs to take a good hard look at themselves, he's played all 22 games this year and is about to play in his first Grand Final. Towelled Wanganeen up today and does a consistent job on a week-to-week basis. Oh yeah, what an absolute dud.

Doesn't the Heffernan rule only start on NOV 30th? which means this trading period is excempt?

If the pies had salary cap problems (which by all indications is crap) I wouldn't think Davis and Scotland would be eating into it too much.

I strongly doubt collingwood will be very active this trade period unless something like the woey deal comes along
