I stole this thread idea from the Kangaroos board. Who are a best ten Essendon players based on season 2003? (i.e. be difficult to pick Rama). It's a really hard thing to do. I found it difficult to know where to put Fletcher given his injuries and suspension but I can't ignore the fact that when he played the backline looked inpenetrable. Before anyone gets angry about my top ten have a go at it yourself. It's not easy!! (I'm sure I've forgotten someone, please forgive me)

Well going by your lists, Peverill is the most underrated player in the league.
And I would have thought that Wellman would be far above the likes of Hille.

Yeah you make a good point gPhonque. Maybe you should give it a go. It's so hard to get everyone in who deserves to be there.

Hard to fit Peverill, Hille & Cupes in, but worthy of a mention, as well as Jacobs & McVeigh. Don't know how you can have Lloyd at #9, he was fantastic this year, and will come close in the B&F. Has to be the next captain.

Essendon has a major problem - they believe they cannot win without Dustin Fletcher. The club needs to put more bulk onto Mark Bolton and Danny Jacobs to either play them as a permanant replacement to Fletcher, or to push upto CHF.

Solly, NotaW, Cupidoll, McVeigh, Bolts & Bullen all deserve kudos. Rama would have slaughtered them all, including James, IF he could have played the whole season. His first few games were inspirational to say the least!
I would have considered Fletch but I am just so disappointed in his behaviour at the moment that he fails to make my list (not that he will care as he doesn't know me).
I am totally disgusted by the number of people that don't have Fletch in our top ten, OK he got suspended, but he shouldn't have, it was total bullshyte & because of that, you have all forgotten his good performances during the year, truly sad.

Mantis- I think this is just an indication of how bitterly disappointed dons fans are fo Fletch. And rightfully so too. He has let the team down twice and that is unforgivable. The only thing he can do to redeem himself is to play some bloody good footy next year - and if we play finals - 1) not get suspended and 2) play some bloody good footy.

I had him in my top 3 but I can understand why people would be frustrated by his actions. He is the best full back in the league. Forget Scarlett or Lappin, Fletch is too good for either of them. Which, I guess, says alot about how we struggled against the power. Put him down back and Jacobs wouldn't have had the pressure on him that he did and he wouldn't turn the ball over the way he did.
