Do we want him, now that he has quit Port ?

I can't decide. There's something about him i don't like, but i can't put my finger on it. Maybe i think he's soft ?

i think that if he is willing to come here then we should go for him. The club should look to recruit Brown or Stevens. Im not worried about which one it is (prob prefer Brown) but we should definately give it our best shot.

Rather Brown, but if the price is right for Stevens then why not, he's a quality player.

stevens is an outside player who has soft tendencies, we could use someone like that. unless he backs away from confrontation he could complement jj perfectly.

essendon have plenty of hard get the ball players, some outsiders who can run and deliver would work beautifully

We cleared a few of those highly paid "outside" players so do you think Sheeds is looking to get another in? (genuine ?) Would Brown be better as he can be a bit more "in-&-under" as well as outside?

Do we need any of them or have we got suitable youngsters who will develop anyway? Remember also that Sheeds is not big on recruiting established high paid players (unless bigmen).

We grow our own at essendon and thats what has made us successful. Stevens is a mercenary and he can fukk of somewhere else. One player isnt going to make us win a flag next year. we are two years off seriously challenging for a flag IMO and we should be planning accordingly

In 2 years:
Stevens will be 25 and still in his peak.
Hird will be 32 and virtually finished.
Need him or Brown now.

exactly.
how often is it that you have champion players in three positions.
Hird, Fletcher and Lloyd will not be around forever, and whilst we have them all in the same team it is our best chance to get another premiership. therefore we MUST recruit for one or two short term fixes to take advantage before hirdy retires in two or so seasons time.
ANSWER: Stevens/Brown and a backup ruckman

I think he is a great player and would love him here at Essendon. I agree with the Hird/Stevens thing.

I would like Brown over here to.

I dont think we will get either. Hopefully at least 1.

One player isnt going to be the difference. If you think signing stevens or brown all of a sudden makes us premiership contenders then your fooling yourselves. This team has many cracks and it will take time to fix them. Signing those players will strengthen the list no doubt but not to the extent that we will challenge for a flag

Get used to it fellas:

He would go well in our midfield with the Jonno boys. The blonde brigade would run wild. Now thats a tough as nails midfield :)

Why do you call Stevens a mercenary marcuz? From what I understand he really enjoys Port but is desperatley home sick. It appears to have nothing to do with cash while it appears to be all cash with Brown.

So after six years he is homesick all of a sudden. Its an excuse to keep face. Anyway he is overated and soft and i dont want the prick. But what i think makes no difference as its the guys at windy hill that make the calls thats why they get paid the big bucks

He is a tad soft, but the hunger cannot be questioned. An extremely talented footballer with plenty of potential, and some work with the coaching staff should make him into one of the class midfielders of the comp. He definately has the ability, and I believe he is a player that Essendon need.
