View Full Version : Nathan Brown to Hawthorn
Apparently, Nathan Brown has agreed to terms with Hawthorn, and
will sign in the next few days. Libba has been a big part of luring
him over - no idea what is involved in the deal, or what impact this
has with Jade Rawlings.

Where's the mail from?
And where are we going to find $300k+ under the salary cap?
Without giving too much away, it's not from someone at Hawthorn,
so I guess that leaves you with one option
;)
I'm trusting my source enough to post it!!
As I said, I'm not sure of the implications that it will have on Rawlings,
although Schwabby did intimate a few weeks ago that the club would
be after a 'name' player - would they manipulate the salaries to
incorporate Lekkas (done), Rawlings AND for Brown??
Or perhaps the Doggies have agreed to take on, say, Holland??
Sorting out his contract in the process, of course.
Having said that, it would imply that Rawlings is perhaps leaving.
Just the thought of Brown in Hawthorn colours is mouth watering :D

Mark Williams has shown enough promise to cancel out Brown coming to Hawthorn. And for 300k less.
You've insulted my honour, I demand satisfaction. I challenge you to a duel

I'd love to have Brown at Hawthorn, but if we stitch up the Rawlings deal I can't see how we could fit him into our salary cap. Players taking a pay cut for team mate Rawlings is one thing but further cuts for an outsider is unthinkable.

The mail I have from within club is that Rawlings is staying. If that's the case then there's no way we could fit Brown.
I have heard this before though. Last week. It was that Rawlings would go to the Roos. Roos would give Dogs their first draft pick and a player (i was told Brady Rawlings....go figure!) and Brown would come to Hawthorn.
Don't see it though.

Your right the rumour is unfounded as he is leaving principally for money that he wont find at Hawthorn , already struggling for salry cap and two year contracts the order of the day and now club policy....simply doesn't add up
hmm not a hawthorn supporter, just stopped in to see info on rawlings cummin to the cattery. but how the hell can u get brown to hawthorn AND have rawlings in the same team  unless u do a carlton and pay people under the table :p

A mate of mine had seen Jade Rawlings with Ricky Nixon and his brother Brady Rawlings along with some other Roo players including leigh colbert out on the town on friday night at the exchange hotel.... hmmm maybe Jade is going to the Roo's?
Hawthorn won't give him more than two years contract and it obvious he wants 3 or more...

Yes, I have heard that Rawlings' main issue is no so much the money but the length of the contract. He wants more than 2 years.

He will kick his 50 odd goals for the season for you BUT they wont be against any of the top six sides. This is not sour grapes but having watched him closely at the Dogs, he really does struggle against quality opposition IMO.
last 6 games v lions for 6 goals
last 3 games v pies for 7 goals ( 6 in one game)
last 2 games v port for 2 goals
maybe a reflection on the dogs struggling to get the ball doewn there againsr=t these teams
