I thought rather than beating a dead horse about how badly everyone played, I thought I'd start a thread mentioning the players who did play well for us. So here's who I think...

Josh Fraser - played fabulously all day, never gave up. Had a tough job against the Lions two ruckman without Rocca and did well.

Scott Burns - always a good performer. He stood up today and played really well.

Shane Wakelin - I know that Lynch kicked a few goals, but I thought as always, Wakelin's performance on him was good. He didn't give up all day, and made Lynch earn everything.

Simon Prestigiacomo - Again tried hard all day. Brown's a tough assignment and Presti made Brown earn everything and never stopped trying.

Paul Licuria - Again gave it his all. Got more than 20 possessions, and never gave up.

SPECIAL MENTIONS
Nathan Buckley - he tried. He suffered from being double tagged all day. That was partly the fault of the other midfielders for not trying to force Brisbane to put one of those taggers on another midfielder.

Alan Didak - Popped up with some good goals throughout the game. Didn't do to badly.

James Clement - Again he did some damage in the backline at times. He would have benefited from having Cloke down there to help out.

NOT COMPLETELY DISGRACED
Jason Cloke - he tried hard all day. When he was out there he kept competing. He was simply played out of position. He's a backman and that showed today in his performance up forward.

Tristan Walker - He was simply inexperienced. Would have benefitted with someone like Molloy to come in with him who would have been able to share back up ruck duties, and would have been able to fill the void of Rocca in the Forward line a lot better, which would have relieved some of the pressure of the young kid.

These are just my thoughts. What are your thoughts on this?

Ecuse me, umm but your and idiot like seriously...

Licuria was absolutely RAPPED

Lynch uranated all over Wakelin

I feel for players like Burns, Buckley, Shaw, Cloke, Cole and Fraser

who all tried so damn hard but made erors but you take that... Cole made so many damn errors it was so frustrationg, Shaw sorry mate but you just proved your good old 99/2000/20001 form.

Burns-Buckley-Fraser Best by far all tried ooh so hard, Fraser did some dumb things but once again in a Granny you take that...

i thought josh tried and he got a few touches but he actually didnt do too much with them.i thought ben johnson was our best player by far.presti did well, burnsy tried and that was about it

lica didnt do anthing when it counted, wakelin i thought got absolutly caned by lynch.

our problem was we didnt have one player who had a great game, not even a good game.

today showed me that we require 2 or more class players to go with bucks.until we get them,or someone steps up we will not win the big one.

good to see someone looking at the positives though.bring on next year.:)

When assessing players, I also looked at who kept trying all day.

Lica, didn't play great, but he didn't give up trying. Wakelin, again, never gave up.

We definitely need a ruckman, and/or a second CHF. We were exposed in those areas without Rocca. Those areas we should look at in the off-season. These days teams need two ruckman, and whilst Tex will be good in the future, he's only 18 and will take time to develop.

Jerry, I agree with you about Johnson, I forgot about him. Another one who gave it everything.

Seriously they all tried theire guts out, but the reality is they are not as good as Brizzie on the day, theire champs stood up and ours didn't

Brisbane were good. After half time I thought a lot of the boys got their heads down a bit. I think not trying isn't the right choice of words. I think flat is a better choice of words. They all seemed very flat today, I think.

Anyway, looking forward to next year, there are a lot of positives. And hopefully we can learn from this experience and come back better than ever next year.

And I hope we don't have a brownlow medallist if we get to the GF again next year, because that seems to be a curse on the personal peformance. And discard the Lions last two years, and it seems to be a curse on the team playing as well.
