...in trading Brent Montgomery? The official reason was his lack of performance in finals matches. After seeing his last two finals campaigns I have to ask the question-was wallace right in his assessment of Monty?

I thought the idea was right it was just the execution (player selection) that was off.Having said that if Eagleton can produce a season of his form of the last half of the season then it could swing around quickly.

Neither Monty or Powell (who we could have done with keeping) were superstars, but neither is Eagleton. We have to cut our losses and trade eagleton. even when he tries his guts out, his version of being ahrd at the ball is laughable.

1 out of 50 ain't bad.
Thought Monty did ok in the final v Collingwood this year.

Look at the other member of the trade though. Powelly was absolutely brilliant in the 2000 finals. His preliminary final against North was a sensational performance and he was Melbournes best player in a Grandfinal. He also is a very, very tough onballer and would be ideal to have in our side

Loved Monty, but yes, the decision in his case was the right one. Would help us into finals, and then a liability afterward.

This is perhaps a little harsh, but I reckon a couple of VERY costly turnovers against Collingwood last year cost them a spot in the GF.
